2 Questions about OG logging IPs - OG/ Cannabisworld Refugees - International Cannagraphic Magazine Forums

1. When did they start logging IPs (literally - which day/month/year?)
2. Was there an IP history associated w/each user name?

Please, any (former) OG ADMIN's wanna address these?

I seem to remember reading that the logs were deleted every 10 minutes... Did I imagine this? I thought that was a weird thing to be doing, as why not just disable logging completly.

IP's were logged when you were logged on to OG nothing else
as soon as you left your IP would be dropped from the log
and as RC shit doen the server ALL IP addys were removed

OP, though you do not know me by this user name, I have known you for years and have much respect for you from OG. I've read just about every post of yours on ICMag regarding the recently impacted cannabis sites, and RC's situation. I know what you have stated regarding IPs being logged...however...

Here's the thing: I had more than 1 user name with OG. Last October, I went through a bit of computer cleansing and online account clean-up. Aside from deleting all OG cookies from my computer and deleting all pics from one of my profiles (a POTW winner, thank you!), changing the associated emails, etc. -- I also wanted to change my password...and this is where my concern on OG logging IPs is rooted. When I selected the 'change password' option, a window pops up on my screen asking me to confirm for which account I wanted to change my password!!! I had already cleaned out my cookies, so the only reason I concluded was that there was, indeed, a IP DATABASE!!!! At that time, I was not masking my IP. I am now.

Krypto - do you care to chime in on this?

did you use the same email address to register your accounts? That is the ONLY plausible explaination...

You couldnt use the same email addy for a diff. account.
