Bought a used slr now what?

So I've been looking for a nice camera since I can't get my poloroid point&shoot to focus on anything closer than 2ft. While crusing around I picked up a used Nikon D70s for $175. It looks brand new and has less than 5k S. A.'s but didn't come with a lens. Well I found a bnib lens for 95 shipped. Hopefully I didn't waste my money. I know it's a 6yr old camera but it's what I could afford at the moment. So is there anything else I'll need. Maybe a tripod? Thanks in advance.

You want a telephoto for general photgraphy and a Macro for close ups. To do Macros you need a few things. Lens,Tripod,Remote shutter release,Extension tubes, good lighting. Good lenes are not cheap.

Can you post some info on lens needed. I bought a new 18-55mm, I seen a 55-300, I'm kinda lost on this info. I read most of the photography 101, okay not most but didn't read about macro shots. I planed on getting a tripod, and a remote release. What are extension tubes.

Again thanks for the help guys. I kinda jumped into this head first but hopefully I can make something of it. And sorry for the noob ?'s.

Extension tubes force the lens to focus closer. basicly moves the lens farther from the sensor. GOOGLE is your friend 18-55 will be fine. mine is 18-105. Macro prime lens 60mm or 90mm 400-600$. Put the extension tubes on the 18-55 you should get some good macros like that.

Threw that pic in there from your album. Hope you don't mind. But I'll be happy just growing stunning buds like this. Hopeful I'll be able to snap pics like that one day. +K

I searched for reveiws on tripods but then ones that are highly rated are $300+. Anybody have an opinion about a cheaper tripod. I got a shutter release, and a Osawa 80-205mm Macro lens w/ filters coming also. There is a couple used tripods on eBay that look nice I just want to make sure.

I finished reading the photography 101 thread. I went to H&B and looked around. But I still don't have enough info to buy. Thanks for the advice guys.

It's far from a inexpensive hobby I have a SLIK tripod. I love it very well made for the price.
