Physan 20 and bacteria or fungi's

HIgh all, well first i dont know enough as i should about bacterias an fungi . But im trying to learn as over the years i see increased growth an healthier plants by adding some simple BB teas to my hydro feeding regime.

in veg i use a cup of ewc, a few table spoons of mycorrhizae, a table spoon or two of powdered maxicrop. i place all of that in a fine mesh bag an i place that bag in a return filtering bag. The filtering bag sits just in the rez. This with the GH micro bloom forumula has been working wonders. plants are healthy an explosive as i ever had.

I top drip in veg, i run a 1/2 hose across the tops of the buckets. the 1/2 hose has 1/4 elbows, i direct the squirting water from the elbows to the tops of the hydroton. Simple, easy to tell no clogs, low maintenanc.

early clone to start of veg when theres no canopy i get large amounts of green algae growing on the flood table an tops of hydroton, an sides of the containers.

So RECENTLY i started running 1 teaspoon of physan 20, 5mills to 15 gallons of water. it has kept my algea from reproducing an going out of control. soon enough when the canopy gets bigger i will stop using the physan.

i am not gonna put panda plastic on the tops of my buckets or any other light blocker. did that before an its just one more thing to clean an mess with.

So the question is, an im pretty sure it will have some negative effect on the colonization of beneficial bacteria,

How damaging is the physan 20 at these low rates to BB. should i not even bother running any tea bags untill i get a canopy?? Also will the early use, but then stopped use of physan have a negative inpact on the future tea bags i use throughout flower. imsure there will be some residual physan on the hydroton.

bwell an b-safe everyone...

don't recall where i got this, but it's been in my mind that physan has a slight residual activity of a handful of days, then it's either gone inactive or diluted so much it doesn't matter anymore. u should be just fine bro.

I got some Physan 20 a few years back when I was running hydro and pretty strong stuff. Never used it though and fixed my problem in another way. If you have any questions just email the Physan people. I did that when I had some questions and they were responsive and helpful.

Part of it, running GH 3 part in rockwool, was learning to live with a little algae. Never got out of hand though.

Yeah I would not bother running teas until after you stop using the Physan. It's advertised as a broad spectrum disinfectant. If toxic enough for fish I'd be a bit careful when you're applying it but it is biodegradable.

Pretty easy fix though. Panda film is cheap and you can just throwaway. I ended up using a bit of tinfoil on the tops of the rockwool cubes that sat on the rockwool slabs. Once the canopy filled in a bit not a big issue but still had some algae growth in the trays.

I was mainly looking at Physan for Pythium control but ended up going with H2O2 and and chiller.

Actually its not to easy of a fix by putting panda arround the tops. the plastic would block the water spray. an when the clones are young, they just about are over the top of the bucket. placing the panda around the clone an dealing with 25 buckets turns into a chore. when there young barely any plant would be exposed above the plastic. also there are 2 1/4 elbows per bucket, redundancy in case one clogs. but that means theres 2 areas you have to prep in order water can pass thru the panda.

h2o2 could work. a chiller wouldnt prevent algea from growing on the tops of the table or hydroton.

thanks for the input thou. guess im gonna have to ride this physan out an see how she reacts. just sucks that so much is riding on this crop. time is never on my side. hopefully the residual effect wont last long.

bwell an b-safe everyone an thank you for the input...
