Seed Purchase -> Prepaid credit card - Seedbay - International Cannagraphic Magazine Forums

I'm looking to purchase some seeds from Gypsy and want to know if I can use one of those prepaid credit cards. Anyone have any experience with using them and trying to purchase seeds? They're very good as far as privacy is concerned, but I have yet to try buying anything with one yet.
Gypsy, any comments?

What kind of card is it? MC/Visa I would think as long as it is either you shouldn't have a problem, just go to the site and try if it isn't excepted the website will come back with a reply telling you that it doesn't except it. You have a very good point about privacy since I sure they don't take down any information about you when you purchase it, Hell now that I think about it this is probably one of the best Ideas I have heard in a while Works faster then a money order its disposable and as long as you don't have to give any personal info to activate it you won't have to be worried about it being traced back to you. Did you have to activate it and if so do you have to answer any questions?

Yeah, you have to activate them, but you don't have to give out your personal info. They do ask for personal info, but for the most part, it's just for customer service crap (if you have problems, or get overcharged for something). So I gave my usual fake alias and fake address when I bought it. If they try to track it, theres no way it could be lead back to me.

keep in mind that many seed vendors sell perfectly legit & completely legal products.................who's to say what you purchased from them

This was very helpful. I just want to add a few things to save people the trouble I went through (took me three tries to get one to work)

Don't bother with Vanilla Visa. This is the closest usable thing Walgreen's had, and it was not usable. Don't remember if it had a "valid in continental US" on tha packagin, as I threw it away, but if I would have checked the Credit Card site FAQ first, I would have seen the answer. Nothing at Walgreen's was usable, at least here in the PNW. YMMV with location, just check the site FAQ on the back of any card you are considering.

Safeway carries visa cards that do not specify on the outside packaging that they are not usable overseas, nor is there a phone number to check on the outside of the packaging, but most are from www.giftcardmall.com. There are an assortment of cards from this site, and before I bought one I wanted to be sure I could use it. Before purchasing I went to the site called the customer service number on the site, and said "I got the card as a gift, no I don't have it or the card number with me, but want to know if I can order internationally." They said as far as they know the cards are usable overseas, but I may need to register the card, and that if the card number doesn't begin with 44166 you may need to register it. I asked what information would need to be resitered and it seemed relatively harmless, but they thought it may need to match your shipping address. I went and got one, and sure enough, the first numbers were 44166. I am under the impression that all the Visa Gift cards at the store began with 44166. I went ahead and tried it without registering at all, and it worked. So if you want a no-registration prepaid credit card, this is a sure-shot route.

yep it definately works, is is very usefull. now, try going into safeway with a few grand and getting a dozen 500 dollar cards. i did it and the fucking idiot of a cashier didnt even go over the money with a counterfeit pen. but she was like "uhhh, we dont get many people coming in here spending 5k in hundred dollar bills".

Go to WalMart, get a Green Dot prepay Visa card, Gypsy takes um. When ya activate the card just give a fake name but if I remember you do need to have the address on the card match the shiping address, I think. You can email Gypsy and ask about the address thing and the card.
