Rain-X, do you use it?

I buy the original product you put on by hand not the windshield washer fluid nor the option available in the car washes.

You start by stripping the glass 100% clean, then apply the Rain-X in a circular motion (wax on grasshopper) covering all the glass, let it dry to a slight haze and then wipe it off (wax off) with a clean dry cloth, terrycloth works best.

To make sure I got it all I wipe the windshield down again with a fresh cloth, you could consider yourself done here but.......

I repeat the process of applying the Rain-X one more time, wait again for it to haze before wiping it thoroughly clean one last time.

The result is NOT having to use your wipers during rain storms as long as your going faster than 20 mph, even if you're going slower the rain will just fall off your windshield like magic.

It's amazing stuff, you'll wonder why we're not required to use it regularly or why state vehicles aren't required to either.

When the rain hits your glass it beads up immediately instead of just hitting your glass and spreading out obscuring vision. because it beads up so perfectly you'll be able to see right through each little bead as though it were a lens. because it beads up each drop of water has less contact area w/the glass, this allows those beads of water to flow off the glass while under speed or just fall of if you're standing still.

a lot of what I say here might not seem to make sense, it's hard to describe succinctly but if you were to use this stuff and find yourself in rain you'd be amazed. the wipers were broken in my old Buick so I Rain-X'd the windshield, a couple of nights later we drove 200 miles round trip in the pouring rain to see a concert. My passenger Rodney couldn't stop yacking about the miracle he was seeing.......

rainX is some badboy shit! i keep the washer fluid rainX in her vehicle and she has ocd about a clean windshield so in return she is constantly coating the windshield with rainX and when it rains we dont have to use the wipers at all unless we are sitting still and just want too.

RainX is awesome. It's also nice in the winter in cold environments. Instead of going outside to find that there's a thick layer of ice on your windshield, you find a thin layer that falls off when touched or nothing at all. Beats the shit out of standing in the snow at 6am scraping your windows for 15 minutes.

rainx is the shit

I don't use my windshield wipers when I'm on the interstate(freeway) and it makes some folks that ride with me nervous. I guess just knowing that its raining and the windshield wipers aren't on somehow makes them unable to see. ?????

I haven't used it for a while. I found it made the wiper blades go bad faster.Other wise good stuff.

Gots to get me sum o dat. RainX saved my ass driving from San Diego to LA. Wipers just up and busted a plastic piece and were inoperable. Pulled into Kragen, rainXed the windshield and away we went.

I never thought the anti-fog (inside) worked well.

rainX is good as long as you keep your windshield clean and apply it regularly. You can also use a bit of regular car wax on the windshield if you don't have rainX.. works great.

I must have done it wrong, because it smeared my shit all up...

Haven't touched the stuff since.

I use car wax on my whole car. Headlights and tails especially to keep them from fogging.

Might be a good idea to turn this into a detailing thread. I love detailing.

RainX is a great poly product, they also make it for paint now it's like a cheap glaze that goes on after wax. Very useful to put on doors around the window makes the water bead so it doesn't go in the window. Aquapel is a much better product though, lasts for 6-9 months instead of what seems like 4-5 weeks with rainx.
