Covering Up The Heat That's Created
Hey folks!
I'm concerned with police airplanes (yes, it happens)!!!!! With all the other precautions I've made I'd sure like some suggestions on how I could shield the heat from being detected from an outside source please. As paranoid as this may sound, I would greatly appreciate some suggestions! Thanks!

Need details. Where are you going to be putting it? (Attic, bedroom, basement, etc.?) How big will it be? What's your budget like?

Sorry for the delayed response. The area is a cabinet in a garage. The garage is not insulated (built in the 50's). The cabinet is approx 6 ft tall, 3.5ft deep and 3ft wide.
Anything I could wrap it in? Right now isn't a big deal, but when it gets really cold this winter, I'd like to hide the heat as much as possible. Thanks!! |

Reflectix. I would simply put a layer over the whole thing and use duct tape to seal it all off. But the heat is going to need to go somewhere, if you "hide" the heat it will still need to be removed from your cabinet and vented somewhere, this will give off a heat signature that might be suspicious, Is the garage attached to the house, could you put in a dryer vent that would be used as an exit for your excess heat. Just ideas.

Sorry to threadjack...
But what is the point at which the differential between attic (or inside temp) and outside temp raises alarms? Or rather the range that would cause the telltale color on the flir that catches attention, vs. outside temps? |

instal a small wood stove, vent your cab into the stove pipe and light it every night after supper!
if they ever do get a hit on your location if they look into it futher they will see it's a wood stove and hopefully check you off their list! good luck bro! TT

supermanlives,
You wrote in the ozone machine thread you used to exhaust into your attic where your exhaust mixed with the O2. Was that detrimonious to your FLIR signature, or not so obvious? I guess in the summer have lights on and exhaust at night, in the winter switch it to day... would the contrast be that significant hmmmm |

I don't think a cab that small will really make a difference in a garage. I'd be more concerned with odor control
