I was talking with this lady who had some GREAT looking totaly frost covered bud. she didn't grow the bud i was looking at but she grows and well aparently.. she says she doesn't chop her plants down, she keeps the roots and everything intact while dring.. she says the roots produce the resin.. i dont know either way on that one..

also, does it make all the crystals explode if you cut the plant down with lights on?? i heard you are supposed to cut it down in pure darkenss or the crystals will explode.. i have grown over 160 plants so far but just want to know if these are myths or not..

Sounds like old wives tales to me. None of my trics have ever exploded because the lights were on when I harvested, as i'm sure you've experienced.

As far as the roots thing, I've never tried it, but it sure has that 'myth' sound to me.

The root myth has been around a very long time.....Trichomes are the source of the high we experience. They are small resin glands that develop within the buds.

I have never seen the trichomes explode due to the time of day the plant was harvested, or have I ever noticed any change in trichomes, by placing the plant in the dark prior to harvesting.

You can perfom your own experiment with a inexpensive mircroscope (60-100X) from Radio Shack.

Just view the trichomes prior, and after harvest....no change in shape, appearance, or color, unless you crush the buds by accident.

The roots on myth is still alive and well in the Northwest..I don't know why! Now the harvesting in darkness has alittle more going for it..I read an article at length,if memory serves,having to due with sugars and plant hormones that retreat back into the root system during the dark hours,since they are not active without light. But the Author said this had more to due with harshness and taste...So I guess that makes keeping the roots intact a bad idea..you make the call...

I heard harvesting on a Full Moon is supposed to be good luck or something. Looks like the full moon this month is the 14th.... Im definitely gonna try this one.
