Need LED advice...
My veg area is only about 2.5'x4' ish...little more than that but not much..
I currently am running 4x40w 4ft flourescent tubes in there and I'm not satisfied with the rate of growth. HID in that little space is a no-can-do because of the heat issues.... So I was thinking of gettin a 90w ufo or two to put in there. On amazon there is a 90w 5 band tri spectrum blah blah blah for $299.00(illuminator).. But there is also a 90w ufo there for like $150.00(led wholesalers).... My main question is what brands do I need to steer clear of and what technology should I look for? Any advice on the subject is welcome.. And before we go the route of "the search option is your friend"....just know I tried...but the search option on this site leaves alot to be desired. |

Are you just planning on using the LED for vegging? Any of the bottom end units are going to be worthless for flowering - I use a Lumigrow ES330 in a GL80 tent, and have been quite happy with it for both veg and flower. Google Irishboy's grows for another option that is a little more affordable.

Only for vegging...until something dramatic happens with LED technology I'll be using my 1000w hps for flower...

Wayne, dude, you need to get back in bed and get out on the other side. Too many people have had far too much success for that sort of statement.
Look to grows by sleepy, hazy, verdant green, blazeoneup and others to see what leds can do.

So I ordered a 90w bloomboss ufo off amazon 219.99 free shipping and no tax...
I'll probably have to get another but 219 isn't bad on something with a 3 year full warranty... |

Is the bloomboss not mostly red for flowering?
I concur with rives, would buy a Lumigrow LED no question ![]() They have them on greners.com you could get the smaller 165 watt version they have adjustable spectrum control dials and a 3 year warranty. 5 watt LED chips in them nice and bright red, blue, & white color and work great for veg & flower. The ES330 (which has a 5 year warranty) would be ideal for your space though. Good luck, happy LED growing!

It has a mix of red/blue/orange/white it says....but mostly red...doesn't really matter to me...I've never noticed a difference between veg under hps or mh....not in terms of speed of growth anyway.
I'm limited to 15 plants so I grow em big before the flip so I top a few times and bend stems to spread em out so if the red makes em a bit stretchier in veg its not a bad thing for me. |

well if MR.X is really using what he's saying, I would go that route..
its all here I ordered some in hopes to get more from less.. lumigrow is a bit noisy for me, very high pitched whine. I even replaced the fans in my GLH with very very quiet fans. lilwayne, check out that link...... |

That is the one thing that I don't like about the Lumigrow - I'm pretty sound-sensitive, but the damn thing sounds like a forced-air hand dryer! (A bit of an exaggeration, but they are louder than I expected).
