Making wine is easy. Making good wine is a bit more complicated. Not hard, but certainly a bit more involved.

I'm getting into making beer. Most people drink whatever swill is on the shelf at 7-11 or the grocery store. I started expanding my palette by trying micro brews and imports and discovered I like a well made Porter or Stout. The problem is, I hate paying $10-12 for a sixer.

So, I'm going to start brewing my own, that way I control the taste and alcohol content. Kinda like growing. I get what I want, not whatever is available.

Plus, CO2 is a byproduct of fermentation

Indeed. This is the only wine I've made. https://www.wikihow.com/Make-Kool-Aid-Wine

It works as advertised.

my friend makes excellent wine and mead he has won awards. i had never had mead before he gave me a bunch. i like dark beers for sure . got to find a new brew store and get back too it. when i made beer last a put a hose on each airlock lid at the top and pumped it into my veg area. you can watch the bubbles in the airlock to know its still putting out co2. did it help i ant sure but it didnt hurt and my veg area grew like weeds LOL

My growing mentor makes his own vino occasionally. It is some good stuff. I'm gonna hafta prod him into another batch soon.

I've been contemplating brewing beer for a long time, but with the Sierra Nevada brewery 20 minutes away I really haven't gone past the thought about it stage.

Now moonshine is a different story. Thats where the fun is. Im going to make up a batch soon for tincture from this seasons trim. Homemade hooch is stupid easy to make.

I made a few terrible batches of bum wines in high school as a way of getting merrily pissed on the cheap. Haven't done any homebrewing since then, always found buying to be easier -- but I've retained an interest in the hobby. Drank quite a few bottles of homemade mead from one friend, as well as homebrewed beer from another.

Gonna homebrew an amber lager with said friend soon, should be a tasty beverage for autumn.
