Cool Amber grows Casey Jones f2

Been wanting to try Casey Jones for a long time but never had the chance to score a pack from a H3ad drop. As luck would have it I received a freebie pack of Casey Jones f2's donated by johnny butt with one of my Bay orders. Still had a few open spaces in this grow so decided to pop a few and see what I could find.

Out of 3 seeds started, only one survived germ and early veg., the 3rd fortunately was a female.

Not sure how long veg was, but most likely maybe 4 weeks or a tad more. 1st in a plastic cup, then 6" square pot, and moved to a 1 gal Aerobag for flower.

I use a bit of a combo of KISS and the Recipe for feeding.
Per Gallon of nute solution:
3/4-1 tsp Maxibloom
2ml Protekt Silica
1-2ml Ca/Mg Plus
Floralicious Plus-just a tad
Clear zyme pond enzymes-just enough to see
0.25-0.5ml Drip Clean
Tap Water - ~80-100ppm
3/4-1 tsp KoolBloom at day 15, 30 and for several days before flush.

Grown in Hydro on E&F tables.
Straight Botanicare Coco
1k MH for first couple weeks flower, the HPS till finished.

Veg was started under 220W PLL, then on the outer edge of 1k MH.

I did not get any pics in veg, had 17 different strains going at the same time, so not everybody got camera time.

She was topped once, and bent the two leaders crossways to accomodate headroom at the time. I tend to bend/twist first, ask questions later.

Heres a couple of shots from about 2 1/2 weeks into flower (sorry, crappy shots):

The Wavy Gravy's I had this grow were about a week behind this girl.

Time flies , its now about a week later and a few more shots of our girl.

Buds are already starting to give a hint of what she holds in store. Not much smell I can pick up at this point.

roll it large, thanks, m8. Good luck with grow!

Fast foward another week and here are a couple shots from around 6 weeks in.

She is smelling very good. Not sure how to peg the smell, but I know I really like it. A bit of lemon, a little fuel, sorta floral, but with a nutty/chocolatey note that sets it off.

Starting to chunk up a little as well.

High74, thanks, bro!! Can't wait till this one gets a little cure and then a smoke test.

Hummus Monk, nice score on these and Old Pink's beans. Gonna pop these anytime soon?

festivus, man I am ready to pop a few of your beans I got with a few of my recent Bay orders (got three packs I think). Thanks again for sending these in, and congrats to you on HOL as well.

At around 9 weeks in, she is really smelling just mouth watering good. Even more of a chocolate thai note coming from this girl. Nice density to the buds, too.

Not sure when...but hopefully will pop them soon...especially after seeing your pics!

Was there much variation in the plants? Do you know how the parents were selected?

Here's some info I happened to find regarding JBs F2s

Great to see some members popping these things, I think there are some real gems to find

Buds look a bit like the thai leaning mom with fatter leaves though, hopefully she took some of the smells from the other plants. Shit looks dank my friend and casey has some of the most unique smells!!

There's bits and pieces of JBs info left on the strainguide... You can find some pics of the moms here (CJ5 = colored pheno, CJ8 = thai expression, CJ7 is not pictured) --> https://www.icmag.com/modules/ICStrainguide/index.php?eop=showreport&id=29 8

I did an open pollination. 9 ladies, 4 males. 1 of those ladies displayed some more serious intersex traits but had a particularly sweet and sour smell, a great structure and an incredible yielder (my fav aside from the few nanners, smoke was top notch). Her intersex traits are definitely something to watch for though. Even with her going 'nuts' I only wound up with a small amount of seeds that I couldn't contribute to the males I used to partially dust my crop.

The main male donor was a large, stretchy, and very drought resistant plant. His growth was lightening fast compared to the other 3, but the other 3 were used just in slightly lesser quantities.

I tried to send in the best beans from my winning plants. These mostly came from 3 different phenos:

CJ 5 - My colored pheno (which can be found in my lounge and the grow along now). The keeper imo and an absolute sour stinker. Can throw a few nanners, but subsequent runs have shown them to be sterile.

CJ 7 - A more lemony, moderate yielding plant. Slightly airy with tiny little calyxs and the super floppy stems. Pine sol smell with a hint of funk.

CJ 8 - A thai structure, huge yielding plant. All were covered with resin, but she didn't have as much stink. Bag appeal was still top notch and stretch was something ridiculous like 3x...

All these and the other phenos were incredibly frosty, but the beans I sent in came mostly from those 3 plants listed above.

Hope this helps!

JB

High74, thanks man!

roll it large, have only tasted a couple of bowls from a piece of nicked bud from trimming that was almost still wet and it was scrumtious. Can't wait to dip back in after a bit more cure time.

Hummus Monk, would love to see em when you get the chance to pop em. Only had the one girl, so not sure how much variation in these. LouDog's post shows about all I know about JB's selection of these.

LouDog, thanks for posting the info from JB about these f2's! This girl definately had a mixture of smells that I could detect. A bit of lemon, a little floral, a hint of fuel and a chocolate thai/nutty undertone to the whole thing. I hope it just gets more intense in the jars.

I'm ready to dip back in and see what other phenos await.

Damn ambertrich!

I keep popping into your CJ F2 thread as it brings a smile to my face each time I see your lady. You did some great work with those and your WG are looking good too... Not to mention all those beaners you're going to have!

Real glad to see the beans go to someone who appreciates them and has done such a good job growing them out

I'm sure JB is sitting back, watching, and smiling
