Any Wiz fans? I have an issue with a lyric ...
Everyone knows Wiz smokes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and I think he spreads a good message about the sacred herb. However, in one of his best songs, Still Blazin', he raps a seriously flawed lyric. He says, "...had 'dro for sale but n*ggas was smokin' haze then". Obviously dro can be haze and haze can be dro. I'm a little dissapointed as i thought he was an informed pot snob. Maybe I should tweet my frustrations to him, LOL ... Anyone else notice this? If you've never heard the song, it's Wiz Khalifa - Still Blazin' off of the album kush and orange juice.

in the "hood" for the last ten years or so, weed was either boogie (mids/shwag) dro (could be anything from beasters to bubblegums or whatever) and "haze"(often haze crosses, sometimes c99 or elvis or similar speedy or incensy strains get lumped in.) Very occasionally diesel or something else would come across, but to the average smoker/seller its those three grades.

Yeah, i have definitely noticed more people becoming aware of different strains. It's a good thing I think. I certainly do my part by educating as much as I can. But if I have to hear "they grow dro underwater" one more time this year I might lose it.

They really don't know what dro is in the "hoods" around where I stay. It is a word that gets used very freely by many people but more so in the streets. I've seen "dro" that looked like it never saw water lol. I feel you about the "you know they grow dro underwater" thing its gets on my f'n nerves when I hear that crap. Rappers smoke weed but few know more than kush haze or purp. Only the true pothead rappers are definately educated like Snoop, not to say Wiz don't know stuff but when writing lyrics its easy to throw general weed terms out there. Like I don't like the word chronic because its just used to describe good week like dank or fire is when there actually is a strain called Chronic. Same thing with the modern day Kush term or how Skunk was back in day. Its something we can't all change at once but educating people correctly along the way helps. Ya'll take care 1

Its just another word for generic "kind bud" ... same thing really ... just like when dudes call top notch bud "piff" regardless if its actually a kush or a haze.
I just saw Wiz for the first time a couple of weeks ago at a festival ... I remember hearing that song and being like "wait a minute thats alborosie!". Same hook and song name from one of alborosie's tracks off one of his newer albums. I was on the tail end of a trip during his set and danced my ass off during most of it ... Good energy , good vibes and good beats. |
