C99 x Webbed Indica - 0/9 germ rate help!

Well the title says it all. I would write to the site but last time I had stuff that didn't pop they never answered. Before anyone says noobe, from the seeds that I was subsequently given by the grower to make up for it I had a 3/4 germ rate from.

Here is my method. Usually step 1 is enough to make seeds pop

1, Soak in warm dechlorinated tap or filtered water overnight - (though TBH ordinary tap has also always worked well)

these did not pop so then put them in jiffy bag, damp paper towel..

then started another 4, which I this time gently scuffed with sandpaper along the length of the seed, along the join line, then placed in water overnight.

I know Wally said elsewhere these seed are old stock, I give it a go as they seemed a bargain, but they aren't if they wont pop!

Can anyone advise me what to do now with them..

Can Wizards please start dating them for future use.

The grower has already said elsewhere the seeds are old stock. The last lot I bought were also old stock and not one popped, that was over 2 years ago.

Props to the grower, who resolved problems last time when the vendor would not. He can't control how long the vendor chooses to keep them and how they're stored.

They were cheap enough and if they were standard seeds I wouldn't care, but these have rare WEB genetics in them, a different web to HWI or Duck.

I currently have the 4 I scarified soaking in water with a little clonex. I got 9 left to try with...any sure fire methods gratefully received.

Wally, if you read this, any plans to make more of these beans, or any more you have in stock somewhere?

hi liteup ,,
given the age of the seeds ,
they prolly shouldnt be for sale ,
they were a bulk sale 5 yrs or so ago ,
whilst i do help with genetic issues with strains i have made or been part of making ,
sadly i cant be responsible for seeds sold of such age ,
its the retailer you purchased them from that is responsible for the product once they have paid for them ,
how long they choose to keep them is up to them ,
but as we see can present problems for customers ...

in the spirit of good will i will replace the seeds you purchased (though it should be done by the owner and retailer of the seeds and you should also contact them for replacement )

i cant give you the same seeds however , because as you are aware they are an old batch and the parents are long gone ...

Yes, I know its absolutely not your fault, nor your responsibility. And it is very kind of you to offer to replace them. Ill write to the vendor, though they never replied last time. I will give it a week or so first and try to pop the rest of these seeds, if I get just one come up out of the 20, that will be ok.

i was really interested in webs, I already have some ducks, and the C99 webs would have been great for that pineapple smell and earlier finish. If you don't have anything with web in it then I'll just wait for the fresh batch of C99 crosses. I don't mind paying for them.

Aside from that, the grow and smoke reports of the C99xweb are fantastic. You have some wonderful genetics in there, that web that is neither Duck nor HWI is literally Irreplaceable and really needs to be kept!

I'm afraid, Mr Mallard, you have become like one of those rare breed farmers, upon whose shoulders falls the responsibility of preventing the extinction of a precious strain..

i recently popped some of the seeds from the same batch ,,
not the same variety ...
and of 20 seeds ,, i have 6 plants that made it ...
strike rate was 8 out of 20 , and of that , there were a few deformed plants , prolly due to age of seed ??

seeds of that age really should be given away as freebies ...

Well fingers crossed I'll have that kind of luck - 6 plants would be great!

Keep us up to date with the new batch, I realise it will be a while, but thanks. I will pay for them, as I cannot be bothered to write to vendor, and thinking about it there was 10 free seeds with them which is twenty quids worth anyhow..
