Punta Rosa vs Panama DC
Greetings,
I am very curious about these two strains. I understand they both use a select Panama Pelo Rosa cut as the mother (a special panama with pink hairs, I believe from the green phenotype), and a columbian punta roja and Deep chunk respectively as fathers. My question for anyone who has grown one or both of these, how the smoke and the high are influenced by deep chunk and the columbian. with time I hope to give my own smoke reports but until then the hunger to know more stays strong! a (hopeful) plan for the future is to cross the most resinous panama DC with a good looking punta rosa male, any expressions to look for on the punta rosa side are most interesting to learn. A big thank you to Charlie these quality genetics

Greetings,
I have gathered a few descriptions of the varieties involved, I have tried to attribute the original authors, if anyone feels this is improper I will of course remove the descriptions. Panama Pelo Rosa is barely mentioned individually but seems to be the favored pheno of the Panama line, since it has been used in these two creations (PDC & Punta Roja). And of these two much has been said of the Panama DC, indeed many beautiful representations of her can be found. The "Pink Point" Punta Roja is not as widely mentioned but has elicited much interest as Columbian varieties are not so common, with their mythic past and long flowering times. I remember reading Redrider and Chamon a few years ago, this thread on modern columbians and Charlie said in 2008 "For nice sativas I would always recomend to grow Columbians... there is plenty of weed there and most sativa effects, more expansive and social than heady asiatics... makes you have much more fun maybe. Some sativas can be so introspective... look better for expansive ones and avoid mellow and racy lines and you have it." some of the columbian crosses mentioned back then were with afghani genetics, and deep chunk really is an afghani IBL par excellence. It seems to me that bridging a Columbian Red Point with Deep Chunk via the very well worked panama line would be an excellent path to stand on the shoulders of giants and find my own interesting phenotype. here are the descriptions gathered of the main personalities =) PANAMA Our Panama hybrid has been developed with different Panama strains. It is a serious breeding project of 5 years. We have combined an old Panama sativa from the 70s, a 'green' Panama grown there nowadays and panamam red hair. Original tropical panama and colombians varieties need 4-5 mounths to flower and produce fluffy buds. But we have been working very hard to reduce the size, flowering times, to increase yields, bud density and resin formation of the original panama lines in our hybrid. We have also adapt the genetics to colder environments and have reduced light requeriments. Our Panama it's a vigorous and manageable sativa that can be grown indoors and in great variety of climates. She flowers in about 10-11 weeks producing very dense, resinous and aromatic high quality sativa buds. There are 2 phenos in the population, being both quite frequent: the green and the red pheno. The red pheno grows very bushy. Its young pistils have a characteristic red colour (and not the whitish classic colour ), and then magenta when they are mature. The high is strong, dense and psychedelic. The green pheno is lighter in colour, has wider leaf and thicker stems. The grown pattern is a little bit more columnar but still with very good branching. The green pheno flowers with the classic white pistils. The strong crystal formation and the light colour makes a nice combination of green and white. The high is a little bit clearer and more energetic than the red panamas. Both phenos have similar size, potency, bud density, resin formation and similar flowering times, finishing at mid October in temperate climates. The aromas are sweet, earthy with great terpene density and quality. Panama released by ACE was F5-F6, present next stocks as said time ago may be last one at F7. Few variations, we played with quicker phenos and longer phenos at same time trying to follow a wider hybrid genetic stream development. Between selected there are some quick phenos of 11-12 weeks while others may still find the 16 weeks ones. Red phenos are quicker, green phenos are slower often Regular Panama (Panama FN7) consists of 3 lines Panamanian different areas and times bred 7 generations in total. Feminised Panama (Panama Panama FN6 FN7 x pink hair) Limited Edition "pink hair" was the mother S1 reversed pink hair against itself in feminized Limited Edition Purple Panama (not to be confused with Purple Haze x Panama) was a limited edition whose mother gave regular semilals blue flowers and had left a FN5 during breeding line. Despite being mostly sativa, with aging have been improved some of its potential as a hybrid traits, sex stable performance, speed, power, stamina / health and massive injection of trichomes. The pace and setting different traits is not only fast and this development continued to construct and allows setting the Traits, since not all can be fixed so fast. I said once the Panama is an excellent hybrid for hashish production. It is easy to be good rock hard balls that smell of hash often as Moroccan hash! In its current state and as in many key lines and is great to hybridize with one another and which transmits its best features easily and provides discreet but effective in some cases and dramatically in others their best attributes. In his very last steps the intent was that as many of them containing even the pink hair, very generally recessive. Kaiki description of panama pelo rosa smoke: Fermented strong lemon scent with hints of vanilla. Authentic American sativa taste PUNTA Rosa 100% sativa hybrid between Panama (inbred) and pure Colombia Punto Rojo, easy to grow with a good branching development and elegant shape. Great trichomes producer covering most buds and leafes. Large floral structure with long colas full of calyxes. Deep lemon-citrus and wallnut tones with a pestilent bottom aroma. A plant for lovers of american sativas can be succesfully grown by most type of growers. Good mold resitance. With bit of patient you can enjoy one of nicest old school sativas. Flowering time 13-16 weeks Limited release Regular seeds It uses a Colombian Punto Rojo as male. Bit stretchy looking sativa cross gets better in flowering prooducing those nice colas easly. Hope best smokes come together LMB, is another full sativa hybrid done with some of my preferred lines I like to smoke as well. Flowerinf should be in the 12-15 weeks. The Punto Rojo male takes around 16-18 while Panama used makes it in 12 weeks. Kinda old school cross and smoke Charlie It's early for me to talk about aromas, if I can say that it smells deliciously like lemony fresita, having cultivated the Panama pink hair, I venture, I noticed similar, yet much difference, both in smell and in comportamineto and structure, the resin is epectacular way, arriving to fill the resin middle leaves very fine, if it reminds me of Panama undoubtedly continue to see this hybrid more noble than the Panama and now I'm enjoying it a lot, the smell as I dare not tell you much yet, but I can say I notice a distinct smell to me, at least lately, something tells me that the smoke will be splendid ... Tristan It is not technically a F1 because it uses an aging Panamanian +6 Fn already know from other studies and pink hair. Help to put him much more body and resins that if you had used cigars for the F1 parental and raised its dominance and body better, "muscled" allows results about 12 weeks. The male came from the hands of Colombian friend canary who kindly gave it and use one after checking its stable sexual behavior in a couple of batches. The line of the Red Dot needs a 18 weeks, I long for most. Kaiki / Charlie creamy and tasty, now have the cure will appreciate more pronounced aromas, nutty sweet but subtle smell that makes you want to eat ... Tristan They are creamy and some odor creamy nuts like hazelnut, citrus-metallic coins also. smoking it is a real treat, very good sativa incredibly creamy and tasty with a good high.. Tristan PANAMA DC Classic sativa/indica hybrid which puts together 2 lines of great personality like Deep Chunk from Tom Hill and Panama. Finishes in around 9 weeks and has a strong and dense effect balanced between both lines used. Produces hard and very resinous buds with earthy and lemon flavours and aromas, sometimes showing pink hairs in their tips Fem only release Its an F3 combinig 2 of best visible resin individuals in our stock creating a quick 50/50 sativa-indica hybrid of very nice performance Incense, citric, earthy aromas. It finishes between 8 to 9-10 weeks Sure its a potent stuff and still a lovely hashplant Charlie very resinous and tasty, hits hard Plant very hashy, you get a fresh and plentiful hashish tones as Moroccan hashish. It's almost more a hasplant in this regard and hence the choice of Panama as Parental Deep Chunk has a whiff of earthy-floral with a tone of vanilla and spices, I would not know which, and the flavor is puuuro hash with a touch earthy, tasty Materazzi Nothing sweet berries then hashy very creamy look and compact, the creaminess of Panama, which can sometimes lead tones of nuts along with limes, I guess these earthy hachiseros DC, must be very good, the truth is perfect these DC Panama, Tristan |

Swayzak Hello, how it goes.
He made a good thread, good information about the lines, but you know, the translation to sometimes fail. I have read everything and understand perfectly what is said, of course I was part of this, so I still remember. Cultivated Panama, as it says we will find Kaiki different expressions can distinguish between green and pink as he says, more power and punch the green, the flowers tend to be denser than the pink, fluffy these more like a true sativa South America but with high output, pink branching phenotype as few plants I have seen, certainly in a plant outside to work it. The product is a metallic sativa and lemony flavors and odors that may remind Haze, powerful effects, many have not smoked Haze, but Panama is one of the strongest sativa I've smoked. The Panama is very creamy, full of fine resins to the leaves half the cut "Pink Panama" Panama Rose khaki or bring these things on their crosses, it is certainly a great work that is now used to work with other lines, all he touches it good, you can see different crosses said this cut and the results speak themselves. Panama outdoors: Well, at a more ... Thanks for the thread, it's good for me to see that people are interested in these things are very good upbringing and no work will always be ... Cheers and good luck. Hello IMB! Beautiful plant! I want to learn Spanish but unfortunately I need to rely on google translate for now. Thank you for your thoughful comments, if I may ask, do you mean the pink pheno is better yielding than the green? another question is how "dense" versus "clear" is the pink pheno. Lemony, Creamy are some descriptions I've read, with the deep chunk making is more earthy / hashy and the columbian red adding more of a incense / hazelnut / nutty flavor. In any case it is clear that Charlie/Kaiki is a breeder to follow! I have peyote purple and Panama DC and Nepal Highland growing now (seedlings), and considering in the next run add Punta Rosa and maybe Mextiza. In general I am trying to find an alternative to the heavy dutch influence and there are some exciting south american and african sourced strains emerging out of Spain (Ace Congo, guetamala, Delicatessen Reine Madre, Tropical seeds Ciskei). I have very limited growing space (220 watt PLL microgrow) but Patience and some bending goes a long way.. |

Hola.

Hello.
If it was a beautiful plant, here you can see more of this Panama: I also try to learn English, but I have to do the same translator, little by little, one day maybe ... Well, this would be a matter of taste, I have seen green phenotypes of Panama flowers very compact, lemony, very powerful and produce a hash of great quality, in the pink hair there are also some variation between individuals, if they come as close the 'Panama Pink' flowers should also compact and very tasty, perhaps the best way to find a good "Pink Panama" would be the S1, where the parent is the mother of Kaiki. From what I have seen the green pheno-drive is more compact and more powerful than the rose that is fluffier and authentic sativa. flavors. Hazelnuts and sweet pastry smells are not found in my Panama, Punta Rosa appeared in the "Pink Point" and a phenotype without shades of purple, you can see here: Panama if it reinforces these nuances as good sativa South American says it is, haze, frankincense, lime, hemp, metal, typical flavors of a true sativa and production and special branch. I also tried my indoor Panama and the product was of high quality. Surely, you can be sure that it is very good breeder Kaiki, their lines are very laborious, delicate, different, this is seen anyone who cultivates are jobs well done, a real pity that the breeding is going through a bad moment national scene here is miss many things you could enjoy, the work does not have the reward it deserves and this causes confusion when making a parenting work such as Panama. The Purple Peyote is a plant that soreprendió all, like in the present scenario, there is considerable variation among phenotypes, but all high quality, many say they do not produce, you can try: The SMP (Sweet Melon Purple) Purple Peyote phenotype that shows a strong smell of honeydew melon in bloom: The DC also Panama continues to surprise many, is a very good line is not yet well known, but are coming out of high quality plants, very resinous and hachiseras. Highland Nepal is special, it's amazing nuances and flavors that out, even in predominant phenotypes unlike those smells, flavors and creamy chocolate, sweet chocolate sativa eating, good smoke and pleasurable effect, I like smoking, the pleasure tube of knowledge through Kaiki I was pleasantly surprised, here is some photos are beautiful: Punta Rosa is highly recommended from my point of view, is for growers with patience and extreme need, is something to savor and understand that the product is smoking, are about 14 weeks of flowering, then filled with long lines the indoor: In Mextiza all speak of different flavors and can not define it, I still have not been blessed with it, I hope someday ... Yes, you can be an alternative to the Dutch work, I always say you have to try things well, even in CannaBioGen plants are very similar to what the client looks in the Netherlands today can be summed up with tastes and smells very sweet indeed fast and flora of 8-9 weeks, Sugar Loaf, for example meets these characteristics in many of its individuals. If, Congo, RM and Ciskei are lines that sound internationally, there are the recognition of his work, if they can go abroad and get to know their work is no longer limited to the small Spanish market for the breeder. Highlight the current work done by the African TTSC as is working hard on a very difficult market, always bringing up things. Here are some of your flowers, crosses in F1, feminized, including African and Chitral (PCK) of CannaBioGen, all 50% Chitral: As you can see Kaiki and CBG is a source of inspiration for other genetic and young people who are making parenting and the future depends on them heavily. Yes, it says, "patience must be the best under good grower." Cheers and good luck. Hello IMB! WOW! Thank you for the super tasty pictures!! By misfortune I will have a chance to grow Punta Rosa earlier.. I have been travelling and watered all plants extra before the trip.. unfortunately the peyote purple seedlings (all but 2 of 11) got waterlogged and wilted , but I will keep in mind the sweet melon purple phenotype for future phenotype digging..I will put 3 punta rosa seeds and one Mextiza to sprout, in addition to the panama DC and two Nepal Highland I have growing. I understand your sentiment that the national spanish scene is problematic, but you said it yourself, the key is to grow internationally and gain recognition among growers that value what you offer: which in my opinion is a refreshing new selection of sativa tastes and highs packaged in robust and timely strains. I really believe Spain has the opportunity to lead the New Sativa wave, which is much more unexplored compared to the overcrowded Indica market. What Cannabiogen has done with Panama x Deep Chunk is exactly the right thing: build something unique on the Sativa side, and partner with well respected breeders on the indica side to break through the noise in the international market. OK, getting off my soapbox now ![]() I have some "Queen Mother" seeds I hope to to try in the future, and plan to pick up something from TTSC eventually (Ciskei and Afrokush are two I've read good things about) but I'm severely constrained and have to plan things out one strain at a time... Patience.. =) Cheers and many Thanks! |
