Would it be smart for me to switch to Hydro?
I grow in soil and can fit 30 plants 3-4FT under a single 1K thanks to my magnum reflector.
I went to the hydro shop today and was looking at flood tables and I was thinking that I could not fit 30, three foot high plants under a 1K if I went hydro, because I do not think that the roots would have enough space in the flood table......... right? It is a tough squeeze but I manage to fit 5 plants width wise and 6 plants long under the reflector for a total of 30, and my grow is surrounded in mylar. Each plant is in a five gallon grow bag..... So I am just worried that I have a total of 150 gallons of dirt for root space, BUT I wont have the much space for roots if I cram them in a hydro system(NFT) right? |

Then screw on cap( nice and tight!) under water making sure not to trap any air. Leave dripper line at ~8cm. long. Give the pot a good watering. Insert B/M snugly into nicely compacted soil(not too loose) . Open till water comes out, carefully close until just a drop barely forms. Tighten 1.75 - 2 Arrows Adjust as necessary for a few days, then leave it alone! "He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. Hydro gives more room for roots than soil. You always need a larger volume of dirt than the equivalent volume of rockwool/hydroton, etc. You can grow trees in 2 gal hydroton buckets that would take 5-10 gallon soil pots, for example. So, IMHO, hydro is a better option for you than soil. Now, what exactly is the length x width of your space?

FYI
Hydro versus soil is like apples and oranges. The soil will give you a better taste BUT the hydro will grow twice as fast give you maybe twice the yield (strain dependent)and will be once dialed in a goober proof way of growing bud.
pumps timers and so on in hydro is simple set it and forget it where as pots of soil will take considerably more time to tend. My Penny Mr.Wags

Go for it fella!!
I grew organic for years.. Went to NFT with great results. Much faster and with a larger harvest than soil. The roots have unlimited space on top of matting.. As long as you flush ( for at least 1 Week prior to harvest ) the herb will taste great 2!! It's really easy to learn as well. Go NFT m8, you will not look back!!

More plants does not mean more bud.

you will always yield better with hydro, less veg time etc. there are many configurations though, best to keep it as simple as possible. Also i use floranova and floralicious alone, also run a biofilter and dont need to change out the water, so the system is at least semi organic.
