Blumats and Living SoilI really love them, and I'm sure they are one of the big reasons my plants are doing as well as they are. They work great for soil, and apparently there are a number of people here who have pretty good success with coco and other substrates as well. Thank you for your interest

I found another male today, and promptly swapped it out for one of the backups from the cabinet. Now I have two males with very different characteristics, and I have to decide which one to use, or whether I should use both. They are both quite lovely, and both have a nice grapefruity scent to them, so if I decide to choose only one it won't be easy to do.
But... Oh Happy Day!!! I also found some female preflowers today, and they are on my favorite plant of the whole bunch!! At this point I'm quite liking all of the plants, but this one has stood out from the very first days for it's extreme vigor and lovely growth characteristics, and I couldn't be more pleased to find out it's a lady. So far it's the only female to show signs, but what a wonderful first, hehe. I hope everyone is having a great day! |

I don't think I have any clear photos of how I have mine set up, and you can't even see the lines that are now buried by the live mulch, but it's set up in a closed loop to reduce the chances of blockage. I also tend to run just water and Cal/Mg through mine so that I don't get any bioslime buildup in the lines that would need to be cleaned. That works well for me since I use a "just add water" amended soil mix, but I've read about plenty of folks who run both organic and chemical nutes through theirs without too many issues. I really think these "on demand" waterers are the bee's knees. Each plant gets what it needs, when it needs it, even though they are all hooked to the same reservoir. Mostly worry-free and couldn't be easier: Just keep the reservoir topped off with pH-adjusted water, and check periodically to ensure to ensure that everything is running smoothly. Also... Once you get them dialed in, DON'T TINKER! It's easy to think we can "optimize" the watering, but really I've found the plants do so much better when I just leave 'em the heck alone ![]() . |

The first one has somewhat fatter leaves, isn't quite as branchy as the other, and doesn't grow as fast as the other, but it has an absolutely lovely scent and beautiful stems and petioles. It's got that nice stem striping that I've enjoyed from many other pics of Sweet Tooth, and the leaves are a very rich dark color that just shines. The second is a faster grower, and much branchier, which is making it an absolute dream for training for my smaller-than-yours tent (jealous). It was the first plant in the tent to extend beyond the edges of the Smart Pot, and the first one (IIRC) to exhibit any grapefruity scent when the leaves are rubbed lightly. I think it will be the easier plant to keep, and to take cuttings off of should I decide to keep it around long-term. Come tomorrow, you should be seeing some freaking magic popping out in those paper towels. Can't wait to see your grow show on those!!! Peace and best wishes. . |

good looking out. cause i was going to ask that, ive just started growing in soil, hydro is my expertise and i was always making sure those damn tubes were clean. ive made the decision i love soil more cause even without an automated system its still less work and less water used than any hydro setup ive had, plus nothing gets more natural for plants than dirt..
