Is your hosted website a high-availability, high-concurrency, guaranteed uptime, secure dedicated server cluster with 100% complete customization and administration? If so, I'd really like to know the details of your hosting plan, because that means my company has been paying out the ass for years for no apparent reason. I'm not trying to be too snarky, but that's just not a valid comparison. Especially when you consider the subject of this website, you don't want third-party consumer-level hosting. It's not a viable option.

In all seriousness, there's a world of difference between a consumer-level hosted plan and the needs that a site like icmag has, and unless you're actually in the business of maintaining a huge site, it's hard to enumerate the differences without boring everyone else to death.

Low bandwidth use = low server costs.
A site with a +million posts like IC Mag and tens of thousands of stored,high-quality uploaded gallery pictures runs a five-figure server bill quarterly.

....And Rojo old bean,I challenge you to put up the proceeds from your next LB to help the Server Fund.

"Femmd" seeds have decreased in price over the past five years by +50%,industry-wide. Due to Reservoir's spankin' new business model Reservoir's retail prices have decreased by roughly 25-35% in the past eight months. Not because I had to,Reservoir has sold EVERY seed released in over a decade at full retail,but because I wanted to. Now Reservoir gets FAR more growers into Reservoir Seeds having increased production and lowering prices to increase Reservoir's demographic reach. Record sales have been the result,so I know Reservoir is on the right path.
....And a damn-near-perfect customer service record for the past almost-year speaks volumes as to Reservoir's current business model being a success.
