IMPORTANT MAILING ISSUES

https://www2.royalmail.com/customer-s...ident-bulletin

USA
Start date: 18th November
End date: Ongoing

Since November 2010, the United States Department of Homeland Security has increased security measures for items carried on passenger airlines. As a result, mail entering the US from around the world, and including the UK, that would normally be sent via passenger aircraft must now travel by other means, including ships and cargo planes.

This is resulting in an extension to transit times for some items, mainly heavier items, but also Destination Sort bags posted under contract by business customers. We’re really sorry for these unavoidable delays and are doing everything we can to keep mail moving out of and into the UK.

We have implemented a number of contingency plans to ensure as much of our customers’ mail reaches the US as quickly as possible and are continuing to work to minimise disruption to our customers, whilst ensuring we comply fully with the US directives and regulations.

Update: 18th April 2011

Further to the recent increased security measures for items carried on passenger airlines to the USA, Royal Mail has continued to work with relevant airlines and deploy a range of contingency measures and routes to get as much mail to the States as quickly as possible.

We are pleased to confirm that the vast majority of mail has now reverted back to being flown to the USA.

Since Tuesday 29th March all items, including personal and business letters and packets, should now be delivered to the US as per the usual timescales for the chosen service. The only mail that may still experience a delay of a couple of extra days is the very low volume of mail that is unable to be sorted by our machines: these are typically round, rolled shaped or cubed items that require additional manual sorting. We are continuing to explore alternative solutions for these items, to return them to normal transit times as soon as possible

Royal Mail would like to thank customers for their patience through the recent unavoidable delays as necessary measures were taken to comply fully with the US directives and regulations.

Things are starting to look up for the USA....

Who do I hit up about some testers that I sent in money for over a month ago? It use to be John Bourne, but I read he is not handling things like that anymore. I am just trying to find out if the postage for the testers had been received. Thanks.
