545 people vs 300 million, America the land of the free.
i saw this in another forum and i really liked it and thought most of you would enjoy it as well. the good thing is that for the most part, i feel more and more people are becoming aware to the sham of politicians and political parties.
"545 vs. 300,000,000 People -By Charlie Reese Politicians are the only people in the world who create problems and then campaign against them. Have you ever wondered, if both the Democrats and the Republicans are against deficits, WHY do we have deficits? Have you ever wondered, if all the politicians are against inflation and high taxes, WHY do we have inflation and high taxes? You and I don't propose a federal budget. The President does. You and I don't have the Constitutional authority to vote on appropriations. The House of Representatives does. You and I don't write the tax code, Congress does. You and I don't set fiscal policy, Congress does. You and I don't control monetary policy, the Federal Reserve Bank does. One hundred senators, 435 congressmen, one President, and nine Supreme Court justices equates to 545 human beings out of the 300 million are directly, legally, morally, and individually responsible for the domestic problems that plague this country. I excluded the members of the Federal Reserve Board because that problem was created by the Congress. In 1913, Congress delegated its Constitutional duty to provide a sound currency to a federally chartered, but private, central bank. I excluded all the special interests and lobbyists for a sound reason. They have no legal authority. They have no ability to coerce a senator, a congressman, or a President to do one cotton-picking thing. I don't care if they offer a politician $1 million dollars in cash. The politician has the power to accept or reject it. No matter what the lobbyist promises, it is the legislator's responsibility to determine how he votes. Those 545 human beings spend much of their energy convincing you that what they did is not their fault. They cooperate in this common con regardless of party. What separates a politician from a normal human being is an excessive amount of gall. No normal human being would have the gall of a Speaker, who stood up and criticized the President for creating deficits. The President can only propose a budget. He cannot force the Congress to accept it. The Constitution, which is the supreme law of the land, gives sole responsibility to the House of Representatives for originating and approving appropriations and taxes. Who is the speaker of the House? John Boehner. He is the leader of the majority party. He and fellow House members, not the President, can approve any budget they want. If the President vetoes it, they can pass it over his veto if they agree to. It seems inconceivable to me that a nation of 300 million cannot replace 545 people who stand convicted -- by present facts -- of incompetence and irresponsibility. I can't think of a single domestic problem that is not traceable directly to those 545 people. When you fully grasp the plain truth that 545 people exercise the power of the federal government, then it must follow that what exists is what they want to exist. " |

If you believe the media is on your side doing their polls, checking backgrounds and investigating the truth. When two thirds of all campaign money goes to pay the media. Things cant get fixed.

oh there is a way to fix it. Educate the public. Refuse to pay taxes on a mass scale, and start convicting politicians for the crimes they commit and not blow jobs they get. Who cares if they are getting their dick sucked, or if they had gay sex in an airport bathroom. What I care about is things like Fear propaganda, the patriot act, the drug war, corporate person hood. the list goes on.
Great post btw too. I liked that article.

i dont mind paying taxes if the money actually went back to help those that pay taxes. instead we fund useless investigations into the immoral behavior that the 545 tend to trip and fall into on a regular basis any more.

Those 545 are PLACED there by big business. They pay to have them run...they get what they want. It's that simple. If you want HONEST representatives...you're going to have to STOP campaign contributions and ALL lobbying. Which won't happen. So, we're stuck with what we have.

Heres the kicker - This piece was originally written in 1985.
It still provokes thought today. Reese, Charley. "Looking for Someone to Blame? Congress Is a Good Place to Start." Orlando Sentinel. 7 March 1995 (p. A8). The Stonewall County Courier. "545 People Responsible for Country's Problems." 19 September 1985 (p. 1)

another opinion...each of us are responsible. WE hold the ability to remove those 545 (lowball estimate in my scenario). shitcan the lot, and put fiscal responsibility as a requisite to service.
test their moral values & limit lobbying by corporate interests (all of them), one transgression and you're removed/imprisoned. When Nixon got away with conspiracy to commit burglary it was a signal to the rest of them that they had free rein to do whatever. If there were dire consequences to the atrocities they inflict in the name of 'protecting' us, then perhaps it would be less of an issue. again only an opinion.

What percentage of those 545 do you think are actually American Citizens? I can tell you this...The United States of America has been run by Non-Americans for too many years now...Hence the reason our beautiful country has taken a big shit for the worst...
Sucks when your country has a foregin enity controlling all your sources of mass information...Television, Media, Books/Newspapers, Radio..... Propaganda allows the masses to be raped by these scum bags... Social Engineering is no Joke! Your only tool against these obstacles is education..Our political system is a joke...
