I am looking for information on the Black Widow… Who has grown it? Any history on the strain would be greatly appreciated. Is this the original White Widow? Thanks to all.

hi
bw is the original whitewidow and its exelent. ive been growing it for a few years now and kept 2 pheno's but found more.
i found a very low stature sativa one that has no strech at all but is very up and speedy high and a flowery perfume smell.
i found a sative/indica pheno that has a killer stone and a very strong spicy flavor very hazy and woody(my favorite)
and the last one is a very streachy sativa that triples in hight in flowering and has a pungent ripe mango smell and taste, and has the most dirty type of high i ever found,comes on very fast and is extremly expensive on the lungs leaves you looking for some oxygen.
not the easiest strain to mange but you will find more then one keeper inside.

Those buds look so light and fluffy... am i seeing that right?

yes this pheno has extremly airy buds. on most other pheno's there are tighter nugs.but this one is the most potent.
i will see if i can find more pic of my other mom but in the last year ive only played with this one.

How many seeds did you grow out? When did you get the seeds? When you said "kept 2 pheno's but found more" how many more? This does not seem to be that stable..... Thanks for the post.

Kanebosem, this is one I've just gotta try by your descriptions. Where did you here that this is the 'original' whitewidow? I've never heard this before. Regardless, it's from one of the MOST reputable and respected breeds on the sceen today.

How could you go wrong?

the first pack was from 2001 since then i had an other pack around 2004
found no diffrence between them,not the most stable but great plants very easly found. between me and friends we had around 14 diffrent females to choose from.the one in the pic was the most powerfull in stone and smell but not in taste or overall efect

very sticky plant not very good for bubble as the resin doesnt want to come off

about which has the original, in my mind there is no qwestion.
i grew many diffrent white widows looking for a certain feeling it gave me years ago in the dam.
i tried hgf,nirvana,growiseeds, mrnice and a few more i cant remember.
black widow stands out of the lot as being the only true one by the sativa phenotypes you find inside and the tastes. it is a staiva cross mainly and some whitewidows on the market just dont have that side in them.
also i dont think shanti ever gave anyone the widow male so no one can realy produce this strain with out it.
i hope maybe one day shanti will give some details about the widow male and its backround,im not sure but i think its a south indian indica/sativa hybrid.
he also has some more crosses with this male like the mangowidow that looks to be promising,check out scorpions thread

Yes they are in fact the same strain!!!Shanti changed the name when he left Greenhouse seeds...
The genetics are exactly the same....For anyone that is curious...
Great looking sativa dominant plant Kane!!!!Never found one like that...Very nice indeed...
Would like to hear more about the plants you found...

To my knowledge shanti never left the parents of the black widow , so greenhouse's white widow is not the same as black widow . Why buy greenhouse when you get the real version for less money ...
