An Introduction of a Genius.
The Introduction... Im 3tOwn, an OG refugee. Just when I'm getting up and running and into the site, it goes down. Bummer. Anyway, this year my Buddy, BACKCOUNTRY and I collaborated on an indoor closet grow. We wanted something that would be self contained and had adequate heat control and ventilation. After many piles of crumbled paper and hours of day dreaming, this is what the Ganja-Guru came up with...
This is 'The Beast.' It is a 22'' wide, 2' deep and 4' tall with an equally sqaure size only 1' tall. It was made out of 2''x2'' and plywood lumber. It has a detachable home-made (And very effective I might add) carbon filter. The filter is constructed using a pack of 4 filter elements and activated carbon. The carbon is layered on 2 of the filters then sealed up with 200mph tape. So far it works great. This is the cab constructed. It is powered by 150w HPS, soon to be dual 150's in an air-cooled hood (Another BACKCOUNTRY creation). Initially it was gonna be a SCROG setup but we have had a new inspiration and will most likely go strictly SOG for quantity and quickness. The cab has 2 PVC air inlets that that come in through the bottom, you can see them in this pic, the black pipes in the floor of the cab. The air is circulated by your standard bathroom fam that is suspended by bungee cords to reduce vibration and noise. The air is then piped through a port in the top of the cab, which is then circulated through the cabon filter and out the back of the cab, scentless. You can see this in the blueprint above. This is a pic of the plumbing. You can see the top of the HPS hood, suspended fan and outlet/filter pipe. Here is a pic of the girls. We started 10 seed grown plants and turned out ONLY 2 females. Bad start but plenty of clones coming soon. Right now we have C99 (Cinderella) and Oregon95XNL. Just another beautiful pic. Im sure BACKCOUNTRY will be posting photos he has as well as more indepth description of the process, after all, its his design. He is a very helpful dude with any questions you might have, I'm sure he'll help you out as well as me if I can. Updates will be coming, new designs and such. Be sure to turn in for the next episode! Stay HIGH! -3tOwN

Hey there budday! You are really too much with the genius stuff! LOL! But thanks, I am happy to help a freind get under way. Maybe I'll get a few bowls out of the deal, and maybe some good clones for my outdoor adventures this summer.
Building the box- The door is on hinges, and is also made from OSB/2"x2", it has locking hasps(sp?) as well. The Carbon scrubber is based on plans found in the GrowFaqs on OG. One furnace filter element is placed on a flat surface, then a second stacked on that with a layer of Activated Carbon poured on it. The third filter element is placed on that one, also with a layer of carbon, the fourth element is placed ontop of that. Now the filter elements are taped together with Foil tape. The Furnace elements are then placed in its compartment inside the carbon scubber box, the side panel is replaced, and sealed. Ready for action! Air is blown up from the bathroom fan, through a duct, and into the Carbon scrubber compartment, where it exits the back of the box, after flowing through the activated carbon. So far temps are staying in the mid-low 70f range with the light on, I hope my new air cooled hood will alow me to keep the temps low with 2 150s running at once.

The plants
Here are some pics showing progress:
In mid November,I put seeds from 3 strains between wet paper towels sitting in bowls sitting on top of my monitor where it is warm. One by one they showed tap roots, and were sown shallowly in a Peat/Perlite potting mix(no ferts for seedlings). Then they were placed under 23wCFLs to veg. As each plant grew big enough to supply clones, I took several off of each plant, and placed them in my "Cheapo Aero-cloner"(a design by 10K of OG). When I felt sure that I would get at least one rooted clone off a given plant, I would start forcing that plant and its other sufficently cloned siblings, under a 12/12 light cycle by placing them in a big cardboard box. One by one they showed sex- 8 males, 2 females. I killed the males and their clones. And moved on with the opperation. As each cutting roots in the aero-cloner, I put it in a solo cup filled with a Peat/Perlite mix. Now I am feeding them Peters general purpose ferts, in the future I will be using Guano tea.

Starting the 2nd wave, and getting bud from the 1st
I fimmed(a plant topping method) and have been tying down the remaining females branches to maximize the number of tops, and use the light more efficently. The 2 Females 1st transplanted to 2 gallon buckets, and then a few weeks later into a 10 gallon rubbermade tote. Training of their canopy with "twist tie on a roll", continues.
When room freed up in the veg closet, we started more seeds, OR95 and a new hybrid I made last summer, C99xOR95(should be a killer mix). Here are a few pics of them vegging along, won't be long and the clone and force cycle will start again.

A bathtub hydro set up huh, River? Sounds sweet. That would be the ultimate indoor project! If I had a spare bathroom I would definitely be into that. Anyway, good luck man!
