Addisons Disease with Canines?
Hi there,
After my pup barely ate for 2-3 weeks, I decided to take him to the vet. He was losing weight, and I partially blame myself for not taking him sooner. Apparently he was so dehydrated when I got him there, the vet had to give him an IV. I've been giving him plenty of food and water (including grilling him a few burgers because I figured no dog would turn down beef). Finally I became to worried because he would get better for a few days, and go right back to where he was, so I had to take him to the vet. The Vet told me he had Addison's disease which apparently damages the liver and kidneys. I'm not quite sure how this happened to my old boy, but now he's on medication and apparently he will need this medicine for the rest of his life. The vet said its possible he will die from this, but with medication his chances of survival are much higher. Have any of you experienced this?

Indirectly. It's very expensive and involves a lifetime of shots that make the dog sick.
