Double adaptor as variable speed controller?
Hey guys, my second post here - don't worry, I'll get around to introducing myself properly soon, but I'm working on a bit of tech at the moment, I'm hoping you guys can help me out... Sorry if this is in the wrong section, I can't seem to find anywhere thats specifically for wiring or electrical...
Hey guys... I just got given a variable speed regulator for a martec mb1204, (ceiling fan) but unfortunately the twisty knob and assembly had been shattered. Now, I'm wondering, If I were to open a double adaptor, remove the positive line between wall and plugs, could I connect the box that controls the power to each plug separately and use it as my own variable speed controller - ie just unplug it and replug it? Hold up, I'll diagram it in Paint. so, what i mean, is can the red and yellow wire go to separate plugs? I'm pretty sure they can, I'd just like clarification if possible |

Hi stoned,
Wiring questions would probably be best here: https://www.icmag.com/ic/forumdisplay.php?f=32 Anyway, I think those symbols are microfarad not nanofarad (measures of capacitance). I'm not familiar with what you call a double adapter, maybe called a duplex outlet (receptacle) in the US? |

For projects like this, I use electrical boxes (sometimes called handy boxes) with strain reliefs and cords.
