Again other plants in the same soil have been thriving - including Sadhu and Hashberry. The buds have almost no smell, and a medium level of visible trich coverage. None are amber and there is still a great number of clear heads as well. Mandala claims their strains don't amber like others, and that is true in my experience. This plant is well past 80 days old... how long should I let it go?
I believe you probably under-fed the Kyrstallica's the whole time. Nutrient needs always peak in flowering, and .9 EC is low for even veg. Anything under 1 ms/cm or ds/m is considered low fertility.

Ive closely monitored EC levels with my Mr. Nice Shits in flower each 7-10 days, and I would see .10 drops in EC each day. I imagine your plants being without nutrients for a few weeks lead to very low levels of nutrients resulting in your loss of leaves, and stasis.

Ive seen exactly what you are talking about. Plants in poor shape take longer to flower, dont generate much resin, and of course yield crappy much of the time.

Ive seen flowering time increases of two weeks with clones when plant health was compromised, so thats likely why your plant has gone 80 days and isn't ready yet.

I would suggest cutting her down now if she's in poor health and not finishing quickly. No point in wasting weeks on a plant like that.

Thanks Dave - but Mandala strains do seem to thrive which such weak feeding (note this is in addition to being planted in quality soil).

I agree with your assessment overall, Krystallica is probably much hungrier than other Mandala strains.

The potency is still decent, the smoke is "Active". Just not much to write home about regarding the appearance or flavor.

I'd give it another try but I burned the whole 10 pack already, with no decent results.

If Krystalica does take much higher feeding levels than other strains, Mandala would do well to update their site, as so much of it is dedicated to warning against overfeeding.

Back to register my continued impression: my crop was more or less a failure. I still have a few ounces of it which I just never reach for because its not very appealing. The effect is "fine" but not special, and the taste is also ok, but not interesting. I'm open to the possibility that I bunged the grow somehow, although my techniques work very well for most other strains and I have never had any as disappointing as this. Its also possible that its just a highly variable line and I got the wrong 10 seeds. Still a bummer - I really like every other Mandala strain I have tried. It leaves me a little shy to try any of their "latest and greatest" in the future, instead sticking to the old reliables.

chappie i have had similar results where a pack of beans didn't impress me like i expected from the hype but with them usually being on the low end of the spectrum price wise, i would try it again when a new batch was released with sometimes surprising results!
anything $75 and up that didn't impress i probably haven't thought about again till now....for those prices the beans better be worth it from the go!

good luck with the next batch of kalich!

Hi,

Resurrecting an old thread ... I got some Krystalica freebies in 2014.
I planted 8. I got 4 females but one was a strange mutant that behaved like it had been topped at the first node and then one of the side shoots was removed.

I grew them alongside Satori and Chill-Om.

Satori has an incredible smell when cured.
Worth growing for that alone.
It is a clear head buzz. Perhaps too clear.

Chill-Om is nearly all head buzz but has a slight body buzz that let you know you were stoned, and I liked that. Sometimes with Satori you needed to remind yourself you were stoned.

Krystalica is pretty poor. Very disappointed. A very distant third choice. Nice plant and buds but not too strong and little jar smell.

All my Mandala plants are very leafy. Too leafy. I defoliate at around four weeks 12/12.
They seem to like this.

I've crossed COxS and KxS,I have a nice reserve of seeds.

I'm nearly at the point of harvesting my first grow. The plants look a lot like Satori.
I've tried a fast dried vape and it's a good buzz.
I'm hoping the cured bud has the Satori smell and effect, with just a little body buzz.

Now this has me bummed. I'm doing Krystalica right now and have 3 fems just starting to flower. Mine has a subtle sweet aroma almost like guava. I had high hopes for this strain considering it was a top ten HT mag strain in 2012. I haven't seen one favorable report on any forum except for a high rating on ********** eu. I'm outdoors btw and have stock circa 03/2012. Were you in or outdoors and what was the date on your pack?

Hi

Mine were freebies in 2014.
I thought it was generous of Mandala to give away one of their most expensive seeds.
Perhaps they aren't the same as the ones you get if you pay full price?

Hope you have better results.
