Thats a toughy janey.
It looks like some sort of micro def to me, maybe due to pH. Did you normalise the pH of the hydroton pebbles before you used them, they can sometimes be quite alkaline and need alot of pH adjustments if you don't soak in pH 4 water for at least 24 hours before use. What is the pH of your run off water? Is it more alkaline that when it started? Check your pH is correct before you start adding more feed, it may just be that because the pH isnt quite right you are locking out one or more of the micronutes, possibly Mg - there is a fair bit of inter veinal chlorosis, maybe manganese, the brown spot on the 2nd pick indicates this or even Zinc, the white leaf tips/bleaching indicate this. Its quite difficult to tell when they are at this early stage of Def. I had a similar looking problem with some of my Hydro grows, it was all down to the pH being out because I had forgotten to soak the hydroton at pH 4 before I used it. It kept raising my pH to the point where for the rest of the grow I had to adjust the pH 3 times a day, which is a bit of a pain. Also could be a fungus or even an insect. Check on and under the affected leaves, any webbing or wispy stuff or little critters chomping away. Last edited by mauiwowie; 02-04-2006 at 05:39 PM.. |

Get a pH pen Janey, they are an absolute must!!!! I got mine real cheap on Ebay for about £15. It is a vital investment, as is a ppm/EC meter.
What you need to do is check the pH of your run off and then adjust the pH of you nute solution/feed accordingly if you need to. If it isnt pH then you increase the feed strength a little and see how they react. |
