OMRI has a list of products & materials that qualify, no idea what's buried in that list though. Good luck!

Sterile growing media should not have any affect on the end product as far as organic or not. What you feed it will have much more of an effect.
Why does it have to be OMRI? Something only has to be 51% organically sourced to qualify for the certification. Also, a lot of money is exchanged so companies can get their products on those OMRI lists. Many times you will pay more for a product that is exactly the same as its competitors, only theirs has the OMRI rating. Its all a crock of shit. You need to read into it more than just OMRI. Are you trying to grow 21st century OMRI bud, or just nice fresh organic tasting goodness? Do I have to certify the soil in my backyard as OMRI also? |

Big time.
OMRI is NOT a government agency - i.e. they can't certify the drippings off of their chins. They are a 501(c) entity - they draw their listings from CCOF and Oregon Tilth. A group completely and totally geared towards the grow store industry - their listing means absolutely nothing under the real laws and regulations that control the use of the term 'organic' - NOP, OT, CCOF, WSDA, et al. Pitiful group of morons. CC
