Hey chappie,

Which 8MH pheno did you like most high-wise?

There were not really various phenos in my 10-pack. There was the one special plant with the best effect, but it was not physically different. I'd clone them all and keep the clone that corresponds to the donor you like the best.

Greetings all,

I have an 8MH plant in veg now that I'm hoping to collect cuttings from. It's been in veg under 650 CMH watts for about 3 weeks now and I believe it's beginning to show pre-flowers. Unfortunately, I can't really discern whether I'm looking at male or female plant genitalia, LOL.

Actually I'm leaning more toward believing it's male, although that's not what I want, but I see what looks like the pear shaped female calyx starting to open up, and not the typical "ball on a stick". This is what's a bit confusing to me. So, what do you all think?

Thanks for the help..

EDIT: chappie, hope you don't mind me posting this in your thread.

You have a boy.

I'd strongly consider keeping it and crossing with whatever else you have, though.

Thanks chappie. Guess I was trying to deny the obvious..

Also, if you don't mind, I need a little more advice. When I was taking the pics I noticed that the 8MH leaves were starting to curl under (clawing, I think).

I'm feeding with Maxibloom, SM-90 & Drip Clean and again, they're sitting under 650 total CMH watts.

I did however move the light up to 22 inches, from 16 inches, above the plant tops. Read somewhere that too much light intensity could cause this as well. I just want a second opinion.

Thanks

I can't diagnose very well from sight, especially from just a photo. I wouldn't worry a whole lot about the "claw" you have going on, which does not look very severe at all. However, while it could be a trick of light, your plants (seedligns too) all look a bit pale/yellow. That actually makes me think of overwatering. Are you letting them really dry out nicely between waterings?

Is your pH in check each time?

Are you able to test EC or PPM of your feed? If not, I would use no more than 1/2 of what the printed feeding schedule suggests.

Good luck!

Again chappie thanks for the reply.

So to answer your questions:
Quote:

I'm using Tropf Blumats which water according to the plants needs, albeit you have to set them up properly. I had them dialed in but keep fooling with 'em, mainly because I haven't learned to keep my hands off shit. I definitely noticed the coco drying out on top, and for some reason I don't like seeing dried out medium but that's something I gotta get over and let the plants dictate what they want.

Funny you asked because I just started noticing that the ph of the nutes coming directly out of my distribution manifold (all my blumats connect to this) is considerably higher than what I'm reading in my res. Almost upwards of 1 point, where my reservoir is reading 5.7-5.8 and whats coming out of the manifold is 6.5. I've basically corrected this by purging the system once to twice weekly.

I do use a ppm meter but honestly I don't really know what the baseline should be for my mix. I'm basically going off the K.I.S.S method of using 1tsp Maxibloom/gal of RO water. The SM-90 just keeps things somewhat sterile and the Drip Clean keeps the 3mm tubing on the Blumats from clogging.

I think I've done my fair share of research when putting together this grow but it's definitely obvious there are issues I didn't account for. No doubt due to my lack of experience.

I primarily want to stick to Mandala strains, with maybe a nice "head banger" strain thrown in there somewhere, so I've definitely been scoping out all the threads here. Didn't mean to hijack your thread with all the "extra stuff", but I appreciate the feedback.
