I once saw a documentary on TV about honey gatherers in India. They all wore face masks — on the back of their heads, because tigers attack from behind and those masks tricked tigers into thinking that honey gatherers were facing them. I think it's worth a try.

Tigers and Leopards kill many people in India each year. One documentary I watched on the subject of Leopards had two people a night being attacked or killed by Leopards and the villagers would not kill the cats because their religion(Hindu) forbids it. Imo they have much more to worry about than we do. Mountain Lions are tough but a Tiger or Leopard they are not.

they did a study with tigers which hunt like mountain lions in that they are solitary and attack from behind and they found if they wore a mask on the back of their head resembling a face they were far less prone to attack

probably weird the fuck out of any one you stumble across and that could work to your advantage or get you shot or like deliverance'd if your old enough to remember that one

Tom, tell that to the mountain lion that's eyeing you as its next lunch. Let us know how that works out for you.

Hey, Mother Nature knows that eye-spots work! There are more examples in the animal kingdom than I can mention, but they would include examples from almost every (macrofaunal) genera, I think. I can think of at least three species of fish that are named for their prominent eye-spots.

Camouflage--they haz eet. Effective!

I just have to figure out how to get eye-spots on the back of my head that won't fall off.

cat eyes....a small velco band that fits around your head with two reflectors sewn onto it. military uses them for following and such in the dark.
