LC's organic mix #2 and Guano recipe #2
This is my first grow with organics (my third recent grow overall) and so far it has been great. I had some issues with heat, light, and pH but overall it has been very easy this time around.
The seeds were germinated in moist paper towels sandwiched between two plates and set atop my water heater. I had 100% germination within 48 hours (7/8 had popped within the first 24 hours).
They were transferred into dixie cups of the lc mix and placed under a 26w floro for about 3 days. This was a mistake and I will not be repeating it. The floro was to weak; two of the c99s were actualy growing up and trying to wrap around the light. So they were then placed under a 250w hps and have been much Happier.
Next I had to move grow locations temporarily into a much smaller closet space which resulted in significant temperature increases. The lights on/door shut temps in the closet soared to nearly 100F, compared to the 65F temps they had been born into. I have since moved them into a better spot and they are much much happier.
By the time I had moved them out of the closet all of the c99 leaves had folded up taco-style. There was also widespread rust-spotting (see pic) on the older leaves of all the plants. After reading MNS threads in the infirmary, I determined the issue was pH related. I was using store bought distilled water that pH'd to 5.4 which is too low for soil. The lime in the soil mix hasn't had enough time to buffer the mix properly and with the pH of the water so low, it was causing nutrient deficiencies in all the plants. Switching to 1/2 mix of tap water and the distilled brought the pH up to around 7 and resolved the spotting issues.
Whew!
Rust Spotting on C99
Violator Kush #2 Looking good, smelling great!
RoadRunner #2 flowering after 3 weeks of 20/4!
A couple of the c99 pictures. They are growing nice and uniform. I hope theres at least one female out of the four!
