Carnivorous plants

I am trying dro for the second time evaaar =)
So far i am using the Sunshine Mix soil-less organic medium. Having fantastic results thus far. I am doing things organic supplements only, including but not limited to: Peruvian Seabird guano, Indonesian Bat guano, Algamine Kelp Meal, Brer-Rabbit Black-strap Molasses, Fish Emulsion fertilizers, rock phosphate, cotton-seed meal, hygrozyme, and super-thrive if absolutely necessary.

I was gonna start a thread to discuss something I am trying for the first time which is the use of carnivorous plants to help combat gnats and other such flying and crawling pests. So far the girls are doing good. The strain is Head Seeds 4th gen inbred & fem'd NYCDxG13 from a private breeder. I have had great success growing this strain out over the last 3 or 4 years. All have been females with minimal hermie tendencies (only under stressful heat and light-leak conditions).

Here is a pic of last year's soil batch:

This is the start of the soil-less batch, with my newest experiment (this is after 2 weeks under the 400w CMH)...

So what d'ya think? =) anyone else thinkin about trying out venus fly traps and bulbs for pest control? they seem to get just enough feeding since this is coming to the end of the 3rd week of veg.

That is actually the next phase of the plan...sundews might not be able to retain the necessary moisture levels to be able to compete in the environment. I am having problems keeping temps and humidity regulated. The RH seems to shift between high 20s and low 40s...which is ok...but i prefer an rh of 50 in the tent for veg.
I am also experiencing low temps of around 60 at lights off, and low 70s during the day time...this might be a good thing, but I would prefer to keep the day-time temp at around 78-80F, with a night-time temp around 65.
All things considered...the traps seem to be eating pretty good...the seem to be eating mostly flying insects at the moment...I hope they stay small and continue to add support in the fight against creepy crawlies =)
Thanks for the reply!

so I closed the tent flaps and now my temps are perfect...77-78f during day time, 63-64f at lights off. the tent is now officially light-leak proof too! I will post updates after I am done with work for the weekend. It will be the end of week4 of veg and the start of flower on Monday =D

So I am taking a 4 hour break between shifts (pulling a double) and thought i would update ya'll with a pic from the first day of 12/12! Mind you, these sprouts were germinated 34 days ago, after 32 days of 18/6 under the 400 w CMH, here is what they are looking like all trimmed up and branched to proper proportion

It is amazing how well sticky buds can catch and kill fungus gnats. Last round I noticed a dozen or so gnats stuck to the trichs.

just got done making my first feeding solution tea. Using 1tsp/ gal: kelp meal, cotton-seed meal, rock phosphate, Alaskan fist fertilizer, north Alaskan fish emulsion, black-strap molasses, and hygrozyme. This should produce a very thriving tea in approximately 2 weeks when its time to feed the npk should be something around: 15-10-9 for the first feeding.

They're getting bigger!

You ever catch bugs and throw them in the fly trap as a supplemental feeding?
