8 Hours in AMSTRDM, what should I do??
Hey Guys
I have a flight booked in early December, which includes an 8.5 hour stopover in Amsterdam. I'm thinking of heading into the city for a quick smoke and maybe a walk in a park. Any suggestions on where I should go? Or even a good route I can take without getting spun up in the canal labyrinth? Also, does anyone no how long it takes to get from the airport to city center (I'm guessing about 40 mins)? cheers

Go from Schiphol Airport by train(railway) to Amsterdam Central Station, than go to the Haarlemmerstraat(10 minut walk),there you have 3 coffeshops wich are okay,Barney's ,Greenhouse seeds and the Dampkring . . .

Try also to visit the Zeedijk (nearby Central Station 3 min walk) for nice Asian food.Good noodle soup you can get over there when you have the munchies.

I would make my way into the city. Get some hash, a shawarma and Oranjeboom on tap. Then go for a nice walk or rent a bike, grab a map and make the best of the few hours you have.

The ideas are much appreciated guys, it's useful to have some good info so I don't waste time wandering. I mean, I love wandering, but I have to stay within a time bracket. I imagine it will be too cold to ride a bike, so that's out of the question haha. The hash and noodle soup sounds great though, and staying walking range of the station is probably a good idea too.
I want to hit up some pastries while I'm there as well, any suggestions?
