"Slater" - Snazzleberry x Chocolate Chunk
I'm growing out TC Slater (Chocolate Chunk x Snazzleberry) from a local breeder. I started with 5 seeds. I have 4 unsexed seedlings now after tossing a runt. Seedlings are currently in Coco/Perlite cups with mini reservoirs at the bottom (hempy style). They are currently being top-fed nutrients at half strength. They were topped at the third node 2 days ago. I will top again and take clones before putting them into flower.
My full strength nutrient formula (per gallon): 6mL GH Micro, 9mL GH Bloom, 3mL CalMag+ pH'd at 5.8 They are under a CFL array until I have room under my T5. I have not decided whether I will transplant to fullsize hempy buckets or give Blumats a shot in Coco. I'm leaning towards the Blumats, it's just a matter of scraping together some $ to order a kit. A few days after popping. Germination was pretty quick. Since this is my first picture, my time data is referenced from this point. The little guy on bottom right is the one who was culled. ![]() Plants are kept on low low ferts under CFL until I have room/ a plan. 28 days later we have more growth and we see some pronouncement of phenotypes. b and c are the stretchiest phenos, a seems to be an intermediate and d a squat and branchy pheno. All plants were topped to produce 2 shoots to take clones from. The top two leading growth shoots of each are taken as clones right after this picture was taken. ![]() We see something interesting here 6 days after cloning. Since the cloning was actually a second topping, I'd expect at least 4 main growth shoots on all these. However b and c decided otherwise, refusing to branch! d and a are cooperating though. ![]() My Slater cuts rooted before any others in the tray (8 days). So looks like she's pretty easy to clone. Good news for sure. The freshly rooted clones went into a corner of my 12/12 room for sexing. I'll keep the originals under my cfl array until I've determined sex, then re-pot the females in rose buckets with coco/perlite and throw them under my T5. b and c's resistance to multiple topping attempts is quite apparent here. This picture is 40 days from the first one posted. Their small stature is not a reflection of their genetics/vigor but of their small pot size, low light intensity and light feeding schedule. I've got to keep them small because of space limitations.

Thanks for stopping by headseed
![]() Clones showed their sex after about 1 week 12/12. We have 1 male b and 3 females a,c,d. The male b is remarkably symmetrical. The only asymmetries are due to my stem crushing. ![]() a and d are making lovely bushes. d has smaller branches than a but more of them. They were both topped at the same node so I believe this difference to be genetic. d is significantly shorter that a. ![]() c continues to disregard my attempts at bushing her out, her two main stems have been crushed on 3 different occasions to slow vertical growth. ![]() These ladies are light starved in their current location. They will be transplanted and moved under a T5 is the next few days. |
