LUI 13 pheno hunt
Hello fellow explorers of Dutchgrown genetics.
I have 5 LUI 13 in my bloom room at about 16 days. They are beautifully built and going strong. Excited to watch these gals bulk up a bit. Seems like i have three phenos. Hoping someone can help me learn what i am working with. Pheno 1 is short and branchy with dark green leaves that look like they could support a cup of tea. Looks like maybe the G13 influence? Pheno 2 seems to be a mix of the other two. A bit taller than the short ones, stems not as rigid or thick, and leaves with a bit more of a relaxed hang. Pheno 3 is the tallest, with less branching out and relaxed leaf hang. Dutchgrown added a sweet little tutorial to this forum all about the g13, but i don't know much about the Ortega pheno of LUI. Anyone have any thoughts on the above descriptions? Happy to have moved on from a not so pleasurable discussion in another thread. Being in the Dutchgrown forum is like a cool breeze on a hot day. |

Alright the 3 phenos sound great inreplyalvalon, I can't help you with the ortega pheno probably only DG can really give you a experienced report on what to look for and expect, but I am here to learn all about it with you. I managed to snag the last pack of LUI13 off the 'Bay Invite Specials and have a similar goal like yourself.
Pheno 1 sounds like some dank, they all actually sound dank, any chance of any pics of your girls

I did soe research and came across this thread which had a lot of info on the LUI
https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread....ltimate+Indica It is described numerous times as being SHORT and SQUAT with leaves that are rigid. So maybe it is the g13s that are a touch taller? I think only the knowledgeable one known as Dutchgrown will be clearing this up...pretty please? I will take pictures for ya'll. The only issue is that they are beasts and it will take some moving around, but to YOU guys know what thats all about, and its the least i can do after having the opportunity to grow some quality genetics. The stature on these girls is impressive. I like a lady that stands on her own feet.

The Ortega side of LUI (Legends Ultimate Indica) will show herself during flower as a pointed cola (some might refer to as 'spear shaped'), but is compact, and produces a very dense cola with close side buds that grow along side the cola, in a compact fashion, being a plant of MUCH shorter stature than most LUI (Swt leaning) plants which tend to stretch a bit with more gapping between internodes, with Ortega taking on a more earthy and pungent aroma vs candy sweet (that comes from the Swt side of LUI). A true Ortega pheno of LUI13 can be perhaps confused with the early appearance of G13bx (father of LUI13), but what you should keep in mind is that Ortega will produce (in flower) much larger and broader, fatter buds than G13bx, and in veg, the leaves will be wide like LUI13's G13bx father influence, but with an unmistakable leaf serration unlike G13bx or a Swt pheno of LUI. Resin production will be early and profuse.
Plants leaning heavily towards Ortega before harvest should resemble...bear with me, as I attempt to describe this....a tight broad shaped wedding bouquet with the cola extending from the middle of the bouquet that is very fat and a few inches above the rest of the buds. This of course depends on if the grower has not subjected the plant to heavy pruning earlier on and left her to grow natural. As you go along, and post up pics, I'll be happy to help you find out if you have an Ortega leaning pheno. Hope this helps you in your search!

Dutchgrown now that's a description!
Had me going back and forth into my flower room to gaze upon my fair ladies. They may be abit early for pheno guessing, considering the mentioned similarity between the g13 and ortega, but i will post up some picks eventually, and then ask to borrow your expertise, of which you always share willingly. The only thing keeping me is the plants stems are circled with dripper tube. works well but makes it next to impossible to photo. Need to do something bout that. Yort be sure to share your gals with us. Pictures! Lets compare phenos and see what were working with. Uncle and Boom keep your eyes peeled we got pictures coming our way! Always enjoy yours. |

Lovely Ladies
Here are some shots of three of my LUI13. The other two i have are very similar looking. Whad'ya think?
So far i like this strain. I also have 2 Brainfreeze and 6 mystic gems, which are borderline impossible to photo considering the interweaving happening among the trellis. Can you tell I enjoy Dutchgrown genetics? LUI13 #1 LUI13 #2 LUI13 #3 |
