Herbs cure
Trying to accumulate some info on herbs cure here... speeding up the process of degrading chlorofyl while preserving thc... with help off selected herbs... all naturally!
Now I don't have all the ins and outs... though I love proper cured buds, I hardly ever have the patience and the means to stock jars full and let them sit and wait for months for them to cure... neither have the coffeeshops... only at Katsu I sometimes find some cured weed... like Golden Haze or Golden Sage... when asking to what this 'golden' entails, they say it is extra matured... but they share no details on how?!... Its like old trade secrets... and similar to the legacy of the tabacco industry... it was a profession... a craft... to cure tobacco... nobody shared their recipes... sometimes only a few ingredients in the mix are known... mostly herbs and spices for adding taste... |

First clue
Achillea Millefolium
Aka Yarrow... this common herb is known for catelyzing fermentation... to speed up composting, add some minced leaves... another trait of this herb it is said to help surrounding plants resist deseases and deepening their aromas... taste and smell!!!... if I'm correct it works via the roots, so the plants need to share the same container... some sulpherus cycle?!... also the growing plant should attract some wildlife?... and it repels beetles, ants and flies... a liquid plant feed can be made from the leaves. I have only tried this cure once... adding some crushed Yarrow leaves to dry weed ready to jar... though after allready 2 weeks I started smoking it having no other weed to compare the cure... Also I have tried the water cure... it gets fast results in curing the weed... it leaves a very clean potent bud... yet also the characterizing terpenes and terpenoids are flushed out... Anyone tested adding any herbs to the dry weed in jars method?... please share your results!... Last edited by SativaBelieva; 01-03-2006 at 03:13 PM.. |

Tobacco cure
I've learned that tobacco curing methods can not be compared with weed curing... as tobacco is fermented when wet... and temperatures can get too hot... still I believe some of the herbs mentioned will help speeding up the weed cure... breaking down chlorofyl... anyone willing to share experiences?

Water cure it, the chlorphyl leaches out in a couple of days and then dry and jar.

Then you use the old tried and true method of hanging the plants for 5-7 days or until stem snap and the manicure and jar. Open the jars once or twice a day for a week or so and then close her up.
CC, uses a baggie method where he sweats them real quick and then puts then up, he swears by it. Tex |

Just do a search for home tobacco curing and just keep the temp at 80 the fermentation works better at that range as too high it will kill of the yeast. Check often and no large material takes about a month when done right but will loose all the harshness and will bring out the natural flavor. Do not use any sprays, it will have it's own bacteria. Keep mold spores out. keep the humidity in range. You need air movement.

Yeah Texas Kid... I do it the old tried and true way... though the Golden Sage and Hazes at the Katsu seem something else... have a try when you're in Amsterdam... its not always on their menu... and the baggie method... is that called cushing, or alike?... I know some that swear by drying in bags... and opening and closing it in turns... I've tried it once but it didn't do much for me...
Thanks Grandpa... I'll give it another search... could you tell more on your experience with tabocco home curing your weed? Too bad there isn't any fresh yarrow around this time a year... I like to test that herb with weed cure once more... and do it right this time... |
