How old is to old???
How old is to old for a MMJ seed?? Not 27 years that's for sure.
I know I can talk all day about having a huge selection of seeds I have been saving for like 27 years. I started collecting seeds from bag seed back in the early 80s. I figured if nothing else I could always grow my own. I only kept the best of the best as I came across it. I ordered a "The Seed Bank" catalog in 88 and still have the skunk #1 seeds from that buy, Others were used. Besides that I have collected about 50 strains of unknown origin as they were just very good smoke that the seeds came from. Now i should say i am a heavy smoker and have been through massive amounts of smoke over the years, but I only saved the best, All others were thrown out. You will see in the pic of the seeds laid out that I have some known strains. These came from Steve Tuck, I met up with him in Vancouver in 2000 and bought a handful of strains, WW, Hindu kush, Durban poison, sweet tooth, and a few others. I will start on some of those soon. I am looking for a special plant and with all the genetics I have to work with I see no problem finding some jewels in there. Being a port city I was lucky to have weeds from all over the world brought in here. I have not added any seeds in over 10-12 years to the collection as the indoor growing exploded the imports starting falling off. (No seeds) I am posting a picture of my collection and a few of a mex I grew out of them a couple years ago. Save the genetics! PS, I just sprouted some 25 year old beans and here they are a week later! I have no idea what they are but we will see. I love finding new plants in this collection. It is like Christmas You never know what's in the package. Also look close at the box with the pictures, You can see the 88' "The Seed Bank" catalog folded under a few pictures,! You're going to find some great stuff in those older seeds! Too many of today's stock are poly-hybrids that can neve be bred back to their origins. Breeders are going to drool over the original sativas you have (Colombians and Thais being my personal favorites). In 2003 I found a large spice jar of gold colombian seeds from 1980, that had been sitting in my mom's fridge (I told her she needed to clean her refridgerator more regularly). When I germed them about 10% popped. Unfortunatly that house was soon raided and I never got to see what they would do. Good luck! I'm here for the ride on this one.
