Help! cat piss dangerous?
![]() I know that cat shit contains dangerous bacteria, but what about the piss? If a kitten digs up the compost in your grow, and pisses in it, whats the score. Seriously I need to know asap. It was still pissing as I carried it towards the door, Ive sprayed detol on the floor along the path and scooped out some of the compost and disposed of that. I've saturated the remaining compost with water, but where do I stand?

well human urine is sterile (unless you have a urinary tract infection) I think you will be fine. Altho cat piss smells RANK! other than that I wouldn't worry

I worry about the ammonia in cat piss. I don't know first hand how it will affect your grow...suprisingly, none of our 5 kitties piss in our pots, but....they do like to top plants for us
Hope it's all okay....and don't blame kitty ....he not know, it natural to him.

lol the kitten left the house so quickly she looked shocked, I'm hoping she got the message. I've done a lot of googling, and I should be fine other than the ph level of it. I'm hoping I got most of it out quickly enough. And the plant in question is just entering flowering and is intended for seed anyway, so all in all it could be worse. I should have got her out of there quicker, but I found it funy that she was mesmerised by the leaves being blown by the fan, and trying to cath one of them over and over again as if it was a bird. I didn't notice that shed eated most of 2 other leaves. Or her climb into the tub the big one was planted in prior to the crime. Anyway, shes puring herself to sleep next to my leg at the mo.
Thanks for the replies, I was mortified when I realised what was happening. |

Urine of any kind will kill your plants if she keeps pissing in it. There piss is strong it will burn your eyes lots of ammonia. I have seen good size trees toppled by dog piss. Keep them animals out.

this is actually kinda funny. i don't own any cats, but i love them. this made me giggle. i'm not laughing at the cat possibly messing your crop up. i'm laughing at the picture my brain came up with of a cute little kitten finding the soft soil a perfect spot to do his thing, and then thinking about you running thru the house with a cat peeing all over just is some funniest home videos stuff.

This is very true. Ammonia and very low pH kill plants quickly. You can flow pot with lot of water or immerse the pot in a large water basin for an half on hour. And keep door of growroom close for now!

lol yeah that was a nightmare, it was a lost stray kitten, after a lot of asking around, I found his owner and returned it. They lost it again and someone else returned it. They've now had it microchipped, but to be honest now I wish I hadn't found its owners as it was a really nice cat. Normally I'm far more of a dog guy, but I did like that fella. The plant in question is fine, pulling seeds off it at the mo as they ripen.
