Sour 60 in Smartpots with Coco

10/10 germination
1 culled runt
8 females
1 male
30 days so far, still very short but speeding up a lot.

growing them in coco + perlite in 2 gallon smart pots, drain to waste style. germinated them right in the 16 oz cups, a few weeks later i used the raised transplant technique for a longer root system which autos seem to have a preference for.

a single 250 watt CMH hangs between 2 trays of 4 and 5 smart pot. other plants surround them on tiers above and below. T5 used as supplemental lighting.

they're being fed daily a half dosage of the GH micro/bloom 6/9ml recipe, pH always about 5.8, using 80% RO/ 20% tap water.

growing them under 24 hour light, hopefully to slow down sexing and pollen production in order to finish other plants intended to be sensimilla.

SS3 and SS10 have the stronger odors so far, they both seem to be more stretchy and not so branch and tight stucture of the others.

today

eventually they'll finish in my new 20/4, 400 Watt CMH, Autoflower only tent.

let's hope i've got a good male! i'm actually a little disappointed about this. i'll need a large stock to select more from.

Hi reddy1!
I almost missed this thread, I think you'd get more views by posting in the AF forum?
So you'll be making f2s, but trying to delay pollination a bit to let others finish sinse, is that right? Only one male when trying to make seeds is a bit of bad luck, but I'm sure you'll find very nice things in the f2s. I'd make sure to pollinate a bit of all females in order to get as much genetic diversity as possible in the offspring.
The pheno I talked about in mdanzig's thread seemed the best to me, it has it all: height, branchy structure, hollow stems, chunky buds with few leaves!
Best of luck with your grow!

Damn man my first instinct is always to hate on auto-flower grows, but CMH, coco, lucas... this aint your first rodeo is it?

I'm going to have to watch the rest of this with an open mind...

May I ask what the variety in your avatar is? Pink pistils, so sexy.

hey guys

tropic-i'll have to check out that autoflower forum, i always did searches and it landed me right here. yep making seeds with all 8 females plus for some soon to be grown F2s, i'll also be pollinating 4 solid ducksfoots and SSH. those should be interesting. mdanzig was working with ducksfoot and lowryder back in 04/05 but gave up to focus on indoor projects. i think it's a worthy project and the possible outcomes you can imagine yourself. going to take at least 3 of 4 generations or incrossing, backcrossing, or hybrids to get consistent desirable traits, we'll see. it's got to be fast and look like a duck. i love outdoor growing more than anything, i'll be able to do more if it works out.

already started collecting the pollen, mixing with a little flour and into the freezer for preservation.

FoCo(No.Co) - i get lots of great tips from this site. almost everything i know is from here. i grew low ryder 3 by maffe?, seedbay fundraiser, looked good, smelled but didn't give me enough potency to continue growing those seeds but some of my patients actually prefer medicine that isn't so strong. this is for them. something for everybody, i try to keep an open mind, maybe sour 60 will change my mind on autoflowers not having a strong effect on me. the pink pistil strain is menage a trois, grown outdoors is the only time i've seen it do that.

growth rate is much faster now, 3 days from photos, big changes happening.

smart pots FTW. not cheap but they do dry out faster. i bet i'd have bigger plants with a bigger light, every reason now to go to the 400 watt instead.

I've never used smaller than a 400w... Although I did run my 400w Lumatek at 250w for a while... lol

Time to add more light? Temps are getting pretty cool around here...

I'd leave the one that's already all frosty in for seed production and let the others go in a clean room for sensi bud.

Lookin good duder!

they're all getting hit with pollen. if they all make seed i'll have more seeds to select from in Round 2.

did the super short phenos have something special about them? it is early but it's only 8 inches tall. tell you the truth this was going to be the last one to grow seeds from. i'm thinking the tall and branchy phenos are the keeper(seeds). if they all make seed i'll have more seeds to select from in Round 2.

going to experiment with a product a friend recommended to me. Humboldt County's Snow Storm Ultra. anybody try it before? he swore by it. also started using 2 drops per gallon of House and Garden Drip Clean. smartpots show lots of nutrient salts on the sides, can't be good for the plant. some green spots too, a little h2o2 for that.
