fem questions: method and result
title says it all, i am curious if anyone knows how magnus genetics fems are made, what method is used to make male feminized? (STS, etc?)
and has anyone grown both fem and non-fem seeds of the same cultivar from magnus? (im specially interested in double dutch but any info is good) i am thinking about ordering the fem dd but im hoping someone maybe even Gerrit can provide opinion from experience. tia |

Hi Spurr,
The female seeds are made by substituting the original male pollen donor for a female sibling that's reversed using STS. The performance is on par with the regular seeds except for Biddy Early. The Biddy is still very close to the regular but the finish date has moved up a bit. (mid to end Oct instead of end Sept to mid Oct in Holland) On the up side, the "semi auto-flowering" tendency is vastly reduced if not lost completely, so remaining mothers for cuts is more easy than with the regular version. useful info , was curious as how you did it. speaking of your biddy early i had a terrible experience from them last year, i have a feeling the vendor that i bought from might not have been honest so i still have hope to try one of your other strains soon.i was leaning on your warlock but your exile is also looking good. when i get the extra $ i will try your gear again but no female seeds just regular m/f

Hello Chidoctor,
I can not read your post any more except for the first line in which you mention a bad result with your biddies last year. Would you be so kind to send me an e-mail about that? Thanks in advance. Gerrit info@magusgenetics.nl |

Just noticed that I still can read the full post (if I click the right link) but it does not give me much more info.
Could you elaborate on the "terrible experience", thanks. Gerrit |

i got 10 plants from a pack and from that only got 2 females.those 2 females were very haze dominant, very wimpy couldnt support itself. those 2 girls were scrapped due to mold as they went past october outdoors. reason i feel that i might got bad seeds is that they didnt come in your packaging just a clear baggie. i asked around most who have grown biddy say that what i got is not biddy! after x-mas i plan on getting warlock from the bay/boo.

Hi Chidocter,
Are you talking about the regular Biddy, not the fem? In that case 2 females out of ten is no sign of bad quality, just bad luck. If they should be fem you are most likely a victim of fraud as these do not come in 10 packs but only 5. They should be rather lanky as an open structure is better to survive the wind and rain here but "could not support itself" sounds a bit to much. If you mean that they took until November to finish with "past October" it's even more likely these where not genuine, especially if they where regulars. If possible, please pm me the name of the supplier so I can check if they have ever bought stock. I'll doubt this is the case though. Lastly, please note that every legit supplier should be able to provide the Product Identification Number that is assigned to the seeds no matter which packaging they use. If you have any doubt, ask for this number and have it verified through: info@magusgenetics.nl |
