spring bike trip to the netherlands

a coworker just got back from a 8 day bike and boat trip that starts and ends in amsterdam. i was totally awed by the pictures, then i went on the web site and saw the apr/may tulip tour and now i'm really stoked. i do have a couple of questions that maybe dutchgrow or someone else can help with. whats the weather like in may and whats the latest you can go and still see blooming? how tolerant are they in the suburbs to smoking. i cant imagine biking 19miles daily and not stopping to burn a couple along the way. i'd also take recommendations of any other good tour groups in the region. thanks all

it seemed like most of the smaller towns had one or two coffeeshops, most places i went to in the netherlands had them,i never really noted any disapproval from anyone....once you get to amsterdam hop on the ferry that takes you out to the islands on the north sea, gronegan? i think it was, worth the day trip any way

the weather is usually pretty nice in May, but it can be wet too and sometimes catch you out. ... May is probaby the best time to visit the keukenhof (google that mate)

most "burbs" won't hassle you if you're walking along smoking a joint and as unc says most smaller towns also have their own coffeeshops.

edit - recently, Haarlem got a new mayor, don't smoke weed in the street in his town though cuz he's a right tight ass and his policy is to fine you.
