Plant Troubles: Opinions Please

Hi All,

Need some opinions, I've had a lot of stuff going on personally and I let a few plants get out of control. I think I went to agressive when I tried to fix it.

Promix
Temps - 80F, Humidity 30%
ph in - 5.9 ph out 6.0 - 6.7 depending on plant
Iguana Juice Grow base nute

EDIT - they are not under or overwatered.

This started when I moved them from a floro veg/clone tub to the main box with the hps.

So I noticed deficiencies on a few of these plants. Some looked like Mg and they all had purple stems, really purple. so over the course of 3 feedings I did the following. .

1st they were transplanted, then over the course of about 2 weeks...

1 regular feeding of Iguana Juce, 1 regular feeding of ph 6.0 water with 1/4 tsp Mg, 1 regular feeding of Iguana Juice and one foliar feed Iguana Juice (1/3 strength) a few days later

After the 3rd feeding the problem hasnt fixed itself yet, so I am thinking there must be a lockout do to overfert somehow. Tonight, I flushed the hell out of them with ph 6 water, and put them back under floros to recover. Looking for some responses if you think I am on the right track here

Here are some photos with explanations, again all still have purple stems.

Arcata - note purple stems, and the leaves curled under - leaves are kinda dry feeling, not happy.

Green Crack

Cotton Candy Kush

Norcal Trainwreck

UW - note leaf curl

C99 - this is the worst one, note leaf color, and starting brown necrosis, most importantly the top of this plant is very flimsy, including one leaf that is upside down

So do you think I am on track with the flush job, followed up by a 1/2 strength feeding?

Respect to All,
M

Really looks like a low-pH thang to me, bro. I'd try to adjust your water/solutions to 6.65-6.85. You're right on with the flushing. And remember, I'm just guessing so tread lightly and pay attention. peace.

You've got a mulitude of problems going on there man.

1 - they are over watered, you can tell from the leaf droop.

2 - your PH is way off, you can tell from looking at the leafs that theres a multiude of PH differences between your plants.

3 - their nitrogen starved, you can tell from the purple stems and yellow leafs and by them putting out the twisted growth even tho the last is more to do with the PH.

Hope this helps.

Peace

Hey guys,

Thanks for stopping by.

They werent overwatered, if anything they were slightly underwatered. No question on that. And I only water until a little trickles out of the bottom. So it cant be that

PH is checked everytime I water and the meter were calibrated again just 3 days ago. It goes in around 5.9 or 6.0 and comes out anywhere from 6 - 6.7 depending on the plant. Only the UW and Arcata are coming out close to 6.7 which should still be fine.

Nitro and Mag is what I thought initially, so I fed according to the schedule in the initial post with no results. I probably overdid the feeding.

I think what happened here is I had some clones that werent in great shape when they got transplanted, i didnt feed them soon enough cause I thought they needed time to recover, they went deficient, and then I overferted when trying to correct which could have caused a lockout. Usually when a leaf curls up like that it is due to too much of something.

After the flush I gave last night with the light feeding, they are already coming around this morning. The aracata has lost the claw for the most part in a matter of only 8 hours. When in doubt the flush and light feed usually seems to work. Next feed i'm gonna put them back up to a regular dose.

They look N deficient.

A good flush - (ask me if you need an easy way to do a quick, but good flush) then a re-dosing of full strength Veg formula with some micronutes, such as Thrive Alive, or whatever you use for micros.

They should recover. Keep them warm at night  The warmth helps the plant grow vigorously. It looks like there's been some cool temps at night? But that can also be only the N deficiency.

The flush and the re-feeding is what should get you back on track. A foliar feeding with Thrive Alive would be good for the short-run.

Oh, and do you let your water stand for 12-24 hours before using it on your plants? If not, you should. Water straight from the tap is almost like poison to container plants.

Thanks CC - The temps seem to be holding around 80, so it must be the N. I am running the lights 24/7 so there really is no night schedule. In the past, I have thought of cutting to an 18/6 but never did it. Many years ago I read an old Ed Rosenthal article suggesting the more light the better with regards to cycle, so I have been sticking with that. Maybe I should switch that up for a while to see what happens?

I flushed all of them last night wth ph6 water, at least 2 times the container size. I followed that with a 1/2 strength dose of my veg ferts. It is supposed to be complete but sometimes I really wonder because almost every veg cycle I do ends up with an Mg problem at some point. Once I cut to flower it goes away.... I dont have a seperate micro product, but I will get one. So I only fed 1/2 strength after the flush. I dont want to overwater, so do you think the best thing to do is wait until they dry and then come in with a full strength blast? OR supplement with a light foliar until they dry. The only thing that makes me nervous is the last foliar I gave.... right after is when the leaves curled back... I did 1/3 strength. So I'm worried the leaves might not like another blast of nutes.....

I used to let my tap water sit overnight at least, but lately I havent been doing it. I will start that back up again.

Thanks for checking in.

Hey steelers. These from that nice clone shipment you got right? The one where the cheese didnt make it. (Im still working on a better over the pond clone ship method haha) Anyway bro, just wanted to say that the arcata wreck will have purple stems or purpling in them. At least mine does and it is the arcata cut. Also I would have to agree with CC on the N def. It might be a week or 10 days before you see them start to recover. I would def keep them under the HID as well. Fluoros are great, but the HID will really get the juices flowing.

Hi Omega thanks for stoppin in - yeah these are some of those cept the arcata, they had a rough ride so far but after the flush and weak feed they are coming around it seems already. I did change course on the floros and they are under the HID again as of last night right after the flush and weak feed. I think I am gonna move my feed solution slightly back up to 6.3 too, I had better success at that ph level it seems. I recieved some other really nice varities which are rooting now so once I get these others all on track I will be pretty happy. I had a death in the family and things have been screwed up ever since. I just havent had time to pay enough attention I guess... plus honestly getting these high end clones probably caused me to overcare for them when they started showing deficiency. As long as I can learn something from a mistake it's all good.

I got a shipment from flowers.com or whatever and it had those hand warmer packs in them to keep the plant warm in transit. that might work for the long journey overseas... as long as customs doesnt bust the box up. I was thinking about those packs and then low and behold I get a legal plant shipment with them in there....

Peace bro.

It looks like you have the problem fixed but I noticed in one of your posts that you said you only water until a little trickles out.

That can lead to a salt buildup, which will lead to a lockout. I water untill a fair amount comes out the bottom so I am sure that all of the soil is moist and that the old nutes/salts and also been flushed out.
