Hello to the Japanese sub-forum
Hello, haro, and konnichi wa.
I am a 9 year resident of Japan currently doing my first grow. It's outdoor. I live in the countryside, chugoku, sea of Japan side. My grow is going ok, I guess. It turned out to be a lot harder than I thought it was gonna be. I made a lot of mistakes in the beginning, plants died, ordered more seeds, and then repeated that sequence once more before I got a handle on things. Therefore most of my plants are pretty small. I've got one nice 6 footer though that is just starting to flower, Purple White Widow. ![]() I'll get some pics up and more info on exactly what I've got going soon. Excuse me for saying, but things seem a little slow around here. How many gaijin growers we got here? Any Japanese? (I think I spotted a nihonjin in the Japanese language thread, but I can't remember) Anyways, nice to meet you all. |

Pics
Here's a few pics. I'm so bummed and stressing right now. Some of my Jack Herers, which were just starting to bud out nicely, have what I'm almost certain is bud rot.
Here I was a week ago, happy. ![]() Now, today, the same plant. Kinda hard to see. I'm not sure if this camera even has macro or not. Have to ask my wife to sort it out for me. ![]() ![]() Damn, outdoor growing is really turning out to be hard. Marijuana is supposed to be a tough, hardy plant, but it's seeming pretty fragile to me. There are 6 short Jack Herer in that spot. One for sure is a goner, I think. I'm hoping the others can be saved with some surgical intervention. Anyways, I've got 3 grow spots. Those 6 Jack Herer, which are small. I've got 4 Neville's Haze in another spot, small. They haven't started flowering yet. And, in my biggest grow spot (on an island in the nearby river), I've got 1 Jack Herer, 3 Neville's Haze, 3 Super Haze, and 1 Purple White Widow. Everything is small, 2 - 3 1/2 feet tall or so, except for the PWW, which looked to be better than 6 feet when I went to feed/water 2 days ago. Healthy JH ![]() Super Haze ![]() Purple White Widow ![]() I'm just hoping to get enough smoke to last me until next year's harvest and be able to give some away to a couple close friends. I used to smoke very regularly, but usually small amounts before I came to Japan. I bet I haven't smoked a whole ounce in the 9 years I've been here. Expensive and hard to find. I finally woke up and decided to grow it myself. Big learning curve. I've made a lot of mistakes and learned a lot. Next year will be a lot better. Hopefully, I get enough this fall to feel some small measure of success. |

Hiya Hank. Welcome to the forum.
I grow outside in Japan and have found you need to have good air circulation around the plants. It is so humid here that you can easily get bud rot if the plants are crowded or smothered with weeds or other plants. Try opening the area up around your plants so the wind can blow freely through them. Your other plants look good. The PWW looks nice and big and should give you lots of bud. Depending on where you live you are probably safe to harvest into December. Careful in typhoon season! MM |
