Powdery Mildew infection
My friends grow-op is loaded with mildew, last week he sprayed with some neem. Just once, it looked good a couple days later but went to shit between yesterday and today. He is really lazy, He knew that this was happening and never bothered to say anything. So he called me asked me what to do I told him he has to lower his humidity, and also get some neem, or some milk and water. What I didnt know was that he is 5th week of flowering. So I finally got a look at them a most of them are bad. I was wondering about UV generators, I heard that they kill mold and bacteria. Know if anyone know about smoking these buds. I have in past years before I started growing smoked moldy weed and It got me high but tasted like shit, just wondering What kind of health risk might be at hand for smoking the powdery mildew buds?

neem doesnt kill mildew.... you need to go to the garden shop and get something designed to work against mildew. I wouldnt smoke moldy buds, you can run them through a water/ice hash process to filter out the mildew. That is probably your best bet. Ozone wont do a thing for ya...sorry.

Au contraire my sunny friend, ozone kills mold quite well indeed. It wont remove mold from buds/leaves but Im not sure thats the case yet.

bleach and water to wash down the walls...lower the humidity...and get some of this...Serenade
from their site: "Stop Dozens of Tomato Diseases with a Single Natural Product Thousands of commercial growers use Serenade® Garden Disease Control to control foliar diseases, because it's so safe you can spray and harvest the same day. Certified organic by OMRI, Serenade® Garden Disease Control contains Bacillus subtilis, a soil-dwelling bacterium that controls leaf blight, black mold, powdery mildew and many other diseases. # Works on all fruits, vegetables, flowers and ornamentals. # Available in two convenient sizes, a ready to use spray and a concentrate. # Controls anthracnose, bacterial spot, leaf blight, early and late blights, rust, powdery mildew, gray mold and black mold, and scab." unless you get rid of the spoers, they will continue to haunt you and your bud. smoking moldy bud will give you the worst respiratory infection you have ever had. no fun! good luck to you and your friend.

Ask about the serenade at your local grow shop. If thing are out of control with the powder mildew and you have a sizable grow the last ditch effort would be to buy a sulpher vap. I bought one and after two burns all has been erradicated and doing fine now. I use serenade regularly now to prevent any reinfestation and haven't seen a sign of PM in months.
Stop by the chat room for a live up to the minute coverage of PM control. ![]() PS You first need 50 post to ebter the chat room. CYA soon! Last edited by baccas125; 12-07-2005 at 07:34 PM.. |

Moulds and Mildews cannot be eradicated completely from the environment. Spores are everywhere and cannot be stopped from contaminating a grow room. All you can do is create conditions in the room that do not favour growth. Relative Humidity should be less than 50% to stop growth. If you live in a humid part of the country, I would invest in a dehumidifier.
Good luck

i just had a problem using my dehumidifier, seems mold was in there , and when it turned on, sent spores everywhere. someone said to clean it once a week with bleach water. i live in a rainforest, and am fighting everything. havent smoked anything good in over a year, due to wasting my time on overrated seeds that werent as strong as the local rag weed. bullshit!!

Low humidity and lots of air movement .......... also 1 tsp of baking soda and a 1/2 tsp of epson salts per litre of RO water ........ spraying liberally, keep humidity around 50% and no more mildew.
