Exclamation Are we safe to show our plants & Commenting on our own grow?

I saw a thread in another forum in reguard to people posting images and comments in reguard to grow rooms small or large.
Are we safe?
Can or would we be tracked by our IP if a warrent was issued for the information based on our own statements in a thread talking of growing beans and showing pictures.
Could this not be used as evidence against us?
Time for me to go back and hide in my closet :-( eeeks.
I will appreciate your responce.
Peace
Tandare

Show me where they used forum pictures and posts as evidence in court and then you can worry.

Forum pictures and posts are not submitable evidence in court.

Thumbs up

its up to you to decide what is safe for you and what is not...

just be generic when possible, and don't post any incriminating details...

when transferring photos from camera to icmag.com, transfer directly from the memory card to the website, and erase the card after the upload.

you'll be fine.

Thanks Sleepy,
I will keep this in mind when I have something to share in the future.
I agree being as generic as possible is a good idea.

I prefer to at least rename the files. Each manufacturer and sometimes certain models have a default file name (Sony uses MAV on a lot of cameras, for example). Renaming the file eliminates that identification.

I open the files in Corel to resize them and crop them, then resave them under the new name. Much less risk. I also blur out or erase any really identifiable items (my hands, for example). Use a "wipefile" or "wipedisk" utility to securely erase any files on your computer (Norton Utilities & many other programs includes this feature).

i'm pretty sure the site removes those details during the upload...???

Smile

When you use a editing software or even if you dont.
Most images will have a identification hiddin inside to show the time date exposure etc to include what camera was used to take the picture.
Also when you use software like Adobe a hidden ID is also hidden inside with a ID number.
For best results after you edit your image.
Copy the image and paste it into a new folder.
This will help remove some of the information that will travel with your image.
Uploading to the server will not remove the hidden information.
I dont think this would be anything to really worry about.
Considering the expense of such a investigation.
Someone would have to want your Bud bad to spend thousands of dollars to proove a image came from your camera for a small grow.
Mainly dont place anything in the background of the image to identify where the image was taken.
Thanks
