Cloning issues, withering tops
I did search for cloning & came up short. I have had trouble since heat troubles & tops wither bottoms root, I replaced 5, 400 with 16, 54W t-5's Much better on heat, moms look better after a trim & new growth. But what can I do to help my situation?

hmm, not exactly sure what you are asking. Are your clones suffering from wilting/withering?
1) low light on clones-i use 1 28w 6400k cfl 2 ft above 2) heat-keep temps between 70-80, i use a seed heat mat for consistency. This is the biggest issue with my cloning, generally. 3) keep humid first few days, say a dome. Unless you are using the rapid rooters, which may not require it(although mine still do). Very important to let the plants have air, and remove dome as much as possible. 4) find a medium that works for you-some use coir, perlite, rapid rooters, etc 5) keep clones rather small, use gel 6) wait to plant until at least 4 solid roots coming out before transplanting 7) keep medium moist, but do not over water 8) expect 7-14 days for rooting. 9) always take clones from new, green growth. If taking clones from older, harder growth, scrape off the outer layer before dipping & planting 10) lower growth seems to root better than uppergrowth generally. Also take clones using a clean blade at a 45deg angle, do not use scissors(for some reason seems to take longer) 11) Healthy clones require healthy mothers. Keep up the good work, and try some new clones after they have revived and grown some new branches. Hopefully the answer you seek is somewhere in my post. |

Thanks Hari! I think it was heat stress. I took out 2k of 400W, 5 of them, replacing them with 2 432W, 8 t-5 grow lights. mix of 65K & bloom. So I have 16, 54W t-5's Seems to be doing great! Haven't been able to clone yet, soon. To much stuff in life & not enough time.

With 2 36W flouros I can maintain 16 mums and 50+ clones. Lamps are 4' long.
