Biddy E Fems Grow Report
I'll put this over in grow reports when its finished but i thought i would build it here. We are well into the outdoor season and i now know quite a bit about the BE fems so i thought i would start the report. I will begin to add pics by the end of the week.
Location: 36N Germination: 100% of 15 seeds. ( one never grew roots, 2 culled by deer) Gemination Date: March 20th. Transplant OD: April 15th, 6" or so tall. Variation: When the plants were small, there appeared to be 3 phenotypes but as growth progressed the variations between plants diminished . Now, all plants are similar in appearance and growth. At this point, even though they appear to be similar, i consider there to be 2 specific phenotypes. One that begins to flower quite early,(1st wk of july), although is clearly NOt an autoflowerer, and one that flowers appromximately 4 weeks later,(1st wk ofAug), or what would be considererd the normal flowering time for this area. Growth/Vigor: The plants have shown good vigor since germination with no problems at all. My ph naturally is at or just below 7, and its my sense that the girls wish it was around 6.7 if they were dialed in. On July 15th, the smallest plant is 5' or 1.7 meters, to the tallest plants that are just over 2 meters at about 7'. I feel the tallest plants will finish out about 8.5' or 2.75 meters, with an average height of 2.25 meters. Disease/pest: The plants havent had any pest problems really at all. No caterpillars. A few whiteflys and grasshoppers but nothing ive had to spray for. There vigor helps as bug damage is quickly overgrown. The plants have long, sativa like nodal spacing so i dont expect any real mould problems. Weather:We have had excessive heat this season. Our agricultural commisioner released a heat warning 2 weeks ago which means local crop growth and yeild may be stunted. The Biddy's havent seen inhibited growth really at all and have continued at at steady growth rate even though weve had 8 days over 100 degrees F and over 90 degrees daily for over 40 days now. Iv e noticed no real negative effects and i believe the Biddy fems would be a good selection for areas that normally experience very high outdoor temps. The Biddy fems appear to have qualities that make them a good outdoor variety. The sativa influence in their growth makes them tall and slender with a moderate yield. I live in an area that recieves regular severe thunderstorms and plants need to be able to sway with the 50mph straight line winds. Biddy does well and hasnt been damaged. The branches are strong and attached well, ive had no limbs break off. My Blue hash and sensi stars look battered and beaten after a strong storm, the biddy's fair a bit better. Moisture: The Biddy Fems handle low moisture levels fairly well. Of course, any cannabis plant needs adequate moisture, but some strains fair better than others and ive found biddy to be of moderate tolerance of drought. Its not quick to wilt as some strains are. Flowering: Approximately 1 in 4 of the biddys began to flower in the first week of july. Since these plants were germinated on March 20, nearly 14 weeks before the appearance of the first pairs of flowers, i dont consider this pheno to be an autoflowerer. I have cuttings of these specimens and if they can be kept overwinter, the pheno is the outdoor growers dream plant. Every outdoor grower on the planet dreams of a 2.5 m plant thats finished Sept.15. This pheno appears to be one of those plants. My fingers are crossed. 3 out of 4 are on track to begin flowering 4 weeks later or around Aug 1. There is very little difference in appearance. _____ Ill add pics of both pheno's before weeks end and further assessments as the season progresses. |

Here's a typical plant. All of these photo's are of the later flowering pheno but really represents the average plant well. Its about 2 m, or 6.5ft and is about 2 weeks from flower. The early pheno is a bit larger and represents 3 out of 12 plants. As you can see, these plants are gown guerilla and need a little TLC. They dont recieve a lot of care. Im providing the needed nutes today. I try to see them at least 1x per week but not always.
I will get pics of others and the earlier pheno's later this week. This is the smallest plant of the 12 |

Hi D.S.
Thanks for the detailed write-up, looks like the Biddies are doing well so far. I don't expect much problems with getting the cuts through winter, but if they do show signs of flowering it's not that hard getting them back in veg by re-potting them in fresh soil. (it might be best to do so anyway approx one month before you plan to take cuts for the next season) Gerrit |

Looks like you are going to have a nice outdoor harvest...Thats cool, nice job. A strain that finishes at the end of August begining of September is awesome.....but for some reason, the choppers where flying early this year...very early...at the start of June actually......Never seen that before, not in my neck of the woods...
Anyways, nice plants man, and your right, Its been a HORRIBLE summer for growing, I went more than a month without rain, plus temps at or over 100 for many of them dry weeks.....but your s are doing good....Take care... |
