California Orange bud from nirvana

Hello all, I have decided that my lack of previous grows does not justify keeping the great smoke of the cali orange bud to myself. Sorry, I have no pictures, havent gotten used to that aspect yet. But what I do have is a detailed grow concerning $15 seeds that frosted up into some of the best smoke I've ever had.

So I order the Nirvana Orange bud seeds, requesting white rhino as the freebie. When I got a package that said Who's Yer Daddy, I knew not what they were and ended up giving them all away to an admiring friend.

Germination - 10 seeds put into a wet paper towel, not quite wrung out, then into a tubberware bowl, sitting by the window for 2 days. All 10 germed within that time.
Veg - Next, into miracle grow starter soil with lotsa peat and a 'self maintained' water retention. In 12 oz plastic cups, under 3 18in, 20w floros, with a mix of warm and cool light, all in a oversized rubbermaid container. After 5 days of being sprouted these things flew into action, lotsa leaves, nice tight nodes, very symetrical and textbook look to them. I set one outside, and it stopped branching so much, but the leaves grew into a large size quickly. After 3 weeks in the cups the poor seedlings were rootbound badly. I had also been spraying them with some bat guano solution, and I had a withering yellowing problem I wasnt able to quite diagnose. They remained in the cups yet another week, until all the plants were drooping pitfully, (i had no big lights, was going to put them outside, but my ride became a no go about the time I was planning on putting them out)
okokok, on with flower, all 9 were put into one large hole in the wilderness of texas, with blood and bone and all that, they were only 8-10in when put out.
flower - When I returned a few weeks later there was only 1 male, and the one i had outdoors at home turned out to be female, so 9/10 female, is kickass. I killed him. Yeah, then the ladies, beautiful, and still retaining a slight citrusy smell that they had developed at about 2 weeks veg, nothing pungant, just a lemony smell.
I returned about 1 week before harvest, and started watching them very closely. We had a crapload of rain in the area at the time and I was sure that they would have rotted. Some of the tops were a blackish color too, so I bent one open, only to reveal a stanky, berry sour citrus smell WooT! I had 8 females, all about 1 foot and a half, that had some nice heads. I observed two phenos, one that had purpled, and had slightly thiner spear shaped buds, and a more green and orange one that had a balloon head that looked like it would not stop swelling. All these biatches glistened in the sun. I dont know if this is normal, but when I grabbed a top and pulled it close for a sickening smell, I could hold my fingers in the sunlight and see the line of oil, as if I had dipped my fingers into something slimy. If I sat around smelling the sour berry pheno one for too long I'd get sick, they were so sweet.
Original test nug, hung and dried in a tent for 2 days, before stuck into a pipe - While hanging, I just couldnt believe these things were so crystally, now off the plant, the little baby bud looked as if it had been rolled in brown sugar. A honey milk look to it. This still had the hay smell, but when smoked I knew the orange would be there in the final smoke.
Harvest - I harvested at about 55 days, with probably 60%amber heads. Some truly beautiful buds, I hung upside down in my closet, and let them reek up the house real good, that was the scariest part of the grow by far, just smelt so dank in the house. I ended up with 5oz dry, which isnt much, I know, but they were so close to death when put outside I really dont know how they lived. I stuck em in some jars, and smoked on them while they were curing.

Smoke - (I'm a heavy smoker of decent mexi skunk weed, with probably a gram or two of headies thrown in every other day) This smoke was very pleasing. You smell dank when the jar cracks, with a slight orangy smell, 'citrus' not so dominant. So you break some up in stick it in your bowl, (wow, this stuff is so sticky, great scissor and finger hash for me) So now you got your sticky fingers, a fresh harvest, and some decently dried buds, with a loaded pipe and some good friends, you smile before you even inhale. But when you do, Oooh wee! An intense orange is sprayed into your nasal and lungs, afterwards you blow out a distinct orange fruit flavor and await the high, which inst too quick or two slow, but needs about 4 or 5 minutes to set in. Then you are decently stoned. Enough up in the bud to make you laugh your ass off, and enjoy some good tokes. And a bit of indica to give a nice balanced sit around and chill high, while never making you ask if you wanna get off the couch, thats not a problem with this stuff.
Unfortunately the intense (no other word for it) orange taste didnt last, after a few weeks cure, it turned into a wheat cereal smell and taste, kinda like a box of lucky charms, not so bad, just not the fruity flavor I was looking for.

All my friends raved about this stuff, I have 2 guys that I know that continuosly ask if I can get any of that stuff again.

I hope that helps anyone looking at nirvana seeds.

Thank you fine report. The secret is out nirviana makes some good crosses. And are a clear value. I've never heard tell of the Cali- O from them before. And am happy to hear it keeps up the rep of Nirviana Seed co. I think their White Rhino is the bomb. thanks for your time and consideration.

I have had bad experiences with this.

I've grown it and my friends have grown it..

Average potency, no advertised orange-like smell/taste on grow/smoke.. Prone to hermy from the slightest light leak (friends place)..

Of course if you find a good pheno, like "onthecouch" here obviously has, it's a whole different story. I just had bad luck with this, that's all.

Thanks for adding that v1ru5. I dont doubt your results, a lot of people speak the same of nirvana seeds. I was fortunate.

But I would discourage ANY beginner from starting bagseed as the bagseed I had was practically worthless next to the Cali-O.

Hopefully my Hindu Kush will result in a similar way to my previous experience with them.

Yo hurrican, that looks just like the somewhat spear shaped purple pheno I described. Righteous man. Does yours have a sick sour like smell?
