CalMag and Sweetest Cindy99

I see you mention repeatedly that Sweetest Cindy99 is a Cal Mag hog.

In GENERAL, do people with tap water need to add supplemental Cal Mag when growing her, or do only reverse osmosis users need to worry about that?

Since they are sharing a reservoir, would a little extra Cal Mag do any damage to the other strains in the Dutchgrown Select Mix that I'm growing (Dieselrella and Oger99)?

Do you have a picture of cal/mag deficiency handy? I've searched quite a few threads and I can't find anything definitive.

Best to test your water with a do it yourself home test kit to find out what all it contains (levels)....you'd likely still need to supplement some ca/mg if you see early signs...best let the plant tell you...is easy to see early signs and quickly fix.

Check out this thread, it has pics of each deficiency....see post #2 here and just scroll down to the paragraphs about ca and mg:

Nice pics there....and very helpful/useful info.

Varieties selected for inclusion in my Select Mix was done so keeping in mind they each (pretty much) like the same nute levels, so that growers (such as yourself using shared feedings) should not have difficulties, nor need to feed one a lot differently than the others.

Be sure to check out the link I posted....it's an invaluable resource here on site.

Hey brightskies...

1st and foremost...If I were not so lazy i could go and snap a pic of the def for you. But I will do that tomorrow when I update my thread. I had it on the swtst99's and hit them with cal-mag...gone!

2nd...have you ever heard of this book? I own one and it helped me out more then I can say...I could go on and on but...anyway; there are not too many books out there that I read more then twice. It's called the indoor bible...I live by it.....
click here...best 25 bucks I ever spent. Pics of every def and solutions galore!

DG
Oh, there it is. I knew I had seen that before. Thank you very much Dutchgrown, that was quite helpful. I think I'm seeing a low level deficiency at this time in a few of my Dutchgrown plants. I'm just not sure if it is low nutes in general or a cal/mag deficiency. Or a little bit of both.

I'm on city water and I have received a water quality analysis from them. It says that my water hardness is 56-68 mg/l. I also found a site that describes water hardness as being mostly made up of calcium and magnesium: https://www.fcwa.org/water/hardness.htm . According to that site, my water would be considered "slightly hard"; containing less calcium and magnesium than "hard" water.

I think I'll get some supplemental cal/mag and try it out.

I'll try to call the number on the web site linked regarding the book tomorrow. It's available on Amazon, but it's almost $60. I wonder if it is sold out or out of print at the moment. I'm going to have to get one. Thanks for the recommendation Justin.

WTF!?!?! 60!?!? WOW! Must be the inflation from a George Bush Jr. Economy man. I bought mine 3 or more yrs ago? Can't remember, but I know it was not 60 bucks! Sorry, but even at 60 it is worth it! Get the cal/mag...still something you should have on hand anyway.

My Sw99 are heavy feeders I feed them all the time. You can spray

You can use a foliar spray to feed them some nutrients.

I’ve been using Spray n grow and I’ve had great success. It’s probably no better than Miracle Grow but it seems to work for me.

https://www.spray-n-growgardening.com/

Don’t know what type of Cal/Mag nutrients you are using but you can buy one at Home Depot that is a quarter of price typical hydro stores charge....

Good advice Justa- I've never foliar fed yet, but I'm going to look into it.
