grapefruit stretch
I have one grapefruit plant growing at the moment that is around 45-50cm tall and I was just wondering what the stretch on these plants is like. If anyone who's grown this strain could comment I'd really appreciate it....

Depends on the pheno, some only stretch a little others will double or more, check my thread and you will get a good idea of the different phenos.

Does depend on pheno but in my experience they all stretch quite a bit. It will at least double and mine tripled in hieght but I did have a very sativa dominant pheno.
They also have a tendancy to throw branches out everywhere when you throw them into flower, especially if you have topped them. That means they stretch sideways a well as upwards. My plant was 3ftx3ftx5ft when it was finished and completely took up the entire light area of my 400W. Also meant that I was chopping lots of shooters off the plant. It became so hectic with side shoots that I had to remove most of the lower ones as they were causing nute deficiences. |

grapefruit is one of my favorites ever. ive grown out several packs.
it is true with the germination problems,as they are the only bean s ive had problems popping. i have kept a great pheno and am smoking her as i type this, but she is a stretcher. even from clone i pinched the whole plant at two weeks , then again at 4 weeks ,then vegged for another 2 weeks, made a nice bush out of her,but when i put them in 12/12 the tops just shot up anyway. they are just huge plants, but oh so good. ive tried everything as this is my 5th or 6th go round with them, and they always come out to around the same size, even the recommended 1 week veg, they finished only a few inches smaller than the others but the stalks were weaker and couldnt handle the big fat dense buds they had to be tied up at week5. im doing 1 more attempt at a sog soilbed and these will be a small percentage of that see how she does in there. i will always grow the grapefruit, but after this next run i will look back through my notes and find the best way,and stop experimenting. oh by the way these are 4th generation clones and every generation got a little more potent and nicer. i dont know why but it did. good luck |

I think they are the perfect supercropping plant or scrog plant. My grow ended up somewhere between supercropping and a scrog (without the mesh) anyway. I topped twice at 6th and then 2 up on the 2 main shoots. I had about 13 main tops, all were between 10-15 inches and wide and fat. There were also countless other buds filling the spaces inbetween the main buds
Like this infact Its such a nice smoke. Real up cerebral high, just that little bit different and special. For 8 weeks 12/12 it is amazing smoke. I think I got nearly 9oz from a 400W which is over 0.5 per watt so this baby yeilds as well. Im just making a spliff with it now, Sweet, fruity and very very sticky icky. It really does smell of GF. Makes the finest quality iso oil as well. Totally blows your head off, its sent many a experienced smoker on a whitey. Wow this spliff is kicking in. Time to sign off. |

Be patient hideyoshi. These babies really fatten up in the last week. Mine took 9 weeks to finish and that extra week made all the difference
As most growers will tell you, when you think they are finished leave them another week if you can. By the end of Jan you will have a permanent smile on your face. I can promise you that. |
