Nev's haze hybrid - My last grow for a while
Well I thougt I'd treat myself for christmas and as this is my last grow for a while (returning to parents to finish writing phD) I thought I'd go for the Nev's
I germ'ed 2 beans the end of august and they got about 3/4 weeks Veg in a 17L ebb and flow tank. Nice and easy to grow in Veg, didnt stretch too much although they are not the quickest growers. Stuck them in to flower end of september and they stretched like crazy over the next 3 week but didnt really produce any buds at all, it was only by week 5 that the buds really started to form and I could see the 2 different pheno's 1 looks like a really pure Nevs Haze, I have had to tie it down as it would be nearly 6ft if I hadn't. Buds are thin and finger like, they are taking ages to develope but this looks like it is going to be killer killer smoke. Has some very nice purple tinges through it as well, as the calaxys swell they turn purple, purple haze ;o) The other plant is showing more of the NL. Buds are much fatter and like little lollypops, still smell of the haze though and the buds internally are haze all the way. This one is much further along and should be fully ripe in 2 1/2 weeks, hairs are just starting to turn orange and its getting really frosty. Not as much purple in this one though. ;o( although the yellowish fan leaves are actually more redish purple, camera is too crap to pick it up clearly The pics are all week 9-9 1/2, cant really remember which day I put them on 12/12 as I was smoking alot of Iso oil around that time, so Im not 100% of their exact flower time. They have 2 1/2 weeks to do the business, then its a bit of a quick dry for a week then I move. All I can say is it has been a pleasure growing female seeds beans. I have grown Skunk Special, Grapefruit, WWxC99 (amazing herb, ferry you really must release this, please) and now Nevs Haze. Everyone has been easy to grow, for a relative beginner, and the product has been top class everytime. I was initally worrie about hermies and I had a few male flowers on the SS but I haven't seen anything on any of the other. Every time I have had 100% A grade sensimella, cant really ask for more. For anyone questioning whether to grow FS beans, I say go for it, you won't be disappointed. Last edited by mauiwowie; 11-29-2005 at 12:03 AM.. |

Little bit of an update 10 1/2 weeks.
Well they are certainly fattening up. Dropping them from 12/12 to 11/13 seems to have really helped push them along, even the Hazey pheno. Resin glands absolutely everywhere on all the buds and the calaxys are really starting to fatten up. The smell is just devine, doesn't really smell my grow room up but when you sniff the bud they have that primo quality haze stink that I have only previous experienced in A'dam. Cant wait to smoke this stuff!! Only a few hairs have turned orange though, most are in that fat fluffy stage, given that I only have 11/12 days left to go Ive decide to try and mimic nature a bit and drop the light cycle by 5 mins everyday from now to Dec 15th. Hopefully this further drop will hurry them up a bit, I don't think Ive too much too worry about but the riper the better. I just got given some Canaloupe haze from DNA genetics today so I think that when I start up again I will growing that side by side with the pure Nevs Haze and the C99 from the X-line that I plan to purchase as a christmas present for myself. Im a total sativa convert, to be honest I don't even really enjoy smoking pure Indicas anymore, they just make me feel stupified and tired. A quality Indica/sativa cross like the widowrella are really nice, relaxing but also stimulating but these super strong Indicas just don't rock my boat. Where as something like grapefruit or a good haze, its like wow. So up, energetic and stimulating, a true high. |

Went and got some batteries for my scope today and checked the trichomes for the first time.
The trichs on both my plants and already 50-60% cloudy 40%-50% clear but the plants still look a fair way off being ready. Certainly not at that stage in trich development. It's a little strange but good, they are further along than I thought, maybe the hairs won't turn until I chop them. Hopeully they will really fatten up over the next week or so. |

Be ready to move that date back ....and back and back, lol. My Haze cross went an insane long time....and could've gone longer. The trich production really began in earnest around day 100. Nice looking plants though. Good luck on the phd and parental exposure....

The date is set in stone unfortunately so they get the chop dec 15th whatever.
I'm very encouraged though, I did the joint test before, where you make a spliff and roll it on the buds so it gets covered in resin. It is extremely potent stuff already, blew my head off and was really strong, very cerebral and very trippy. This certainly isnt going to be everyday weed when im writing my thesis. |

No not ready just yet cyril. They will be getting the chop at 12 weeks which is 11 days away.
The plan is to feed them until friday/saturday and then start flushing. As Im in hydro that should be enough of a flush to clear them out. They are actually moving along quite a bit everyday now. The NL pheno looks great and is really ripening. The hazey pheno has just put on another growth spurt and is pushing out new bits of bud (some potentially hermie bits, we'll see how they develope, too late to be a problem now though and FS website suggests they may well be harmless) but the older bits are looking nice. |

Some more pics. They now have a week to go. I dropped the nutes from about 1100ppm to 600ppm today to start clearing the nutes from the buds but I don't like to flush with just water as in causes more problems than it solves in my mind.
Trichomes are pretty much all cloudy on the NL pheno and Im going to have to keep an eye on her this next week. Shemay have to be chopped a bit earlier, hence me starting to flush today. Here is her main cola, doesn't really look hazy at all but close up in the bud and in the smell (lemony piney goodness) it very hazy. Buds in the background are the more hazey pheno as you can see, big difference in shape, size structure. Nice shot of the more hazey pheno amda very dark one of the two of them together. RHS is the hazey pheno, LHS in the dark is the more NL pheno [ Last edited by mauiwowie; 12-08-2005 at 07:06 PM.. |
