Jolly Bud Test Grow .......

As the PE thread is near the end the Jolly Bud takes over.

Nine from eleven broke soil and two were lost in a cat incident , five fast growing very similar plants with broad leaves and two slower , paler plants with longer fan stems.

Bigger ones are at 5/6 nodes and very compact and smell good already.
Have Verites Holy Grail in flower now and these look identical in veg to them.

Recon they will also show sex easily and fast at 8 nodes.

They will get the same usual basic setup and standard pot/soil for meaningfull comparisons across grows.

Some leaf tips are a little scorched from spraying for mites with Bifenfrin , one of the few available things that work and safe enougth in veg at least.

Thanks again for the chance to run these.

Will run the two versions of Blockhead Haze together as this thread winds up , they should be something really special and cured for xmas.

Aweek on and staying compact , little branching as expected and will take mid flower clones rather than top them.

Sex is starting to show in their form and should be obvious in another week by structure , have a particular interest in a Blockhead leaning male if one turns up.

Enquiries at a local nursery got me a sample or cypermethrin under the counter , not approved for food or public use , seems to have killed all mites and eggs in one spray , bit of cosmetic leaf tip damage but otherwise fine.

The recent hot dry weather has allowed an explosion in mite populations locally , conifer hedges were ravaged earlier and anything they can feed off is now covered and dieing.
Had the misfortune to have to cut a hedge last month and was litterally crawling with them and the millions of ladybugs feeding on them , house is besieged by them and they laugth at neem and anything off the shelf.

Have kept a small selection of insecticides from the fifties and sixties as a last resort , broad spectrum organophosphates can do the job safely indoors with commonsense at least in veg , one application of lindane dust kept the system free for two years till mites were accidentally reintroduced.

On a hanging basket from our local garden centre.

Three males stretching now a week in , pollen drop from preflowers on first one in 3 days or so.

This girl is fat leaved and compact so far , trichs visible quite early and is a good sign.

These three somehow had their heads chopped off and dropped in the cloner , rooted well and plenty of regrowth but set back a bit , two girls and a male.

Hi fjällhöga , one male and three girls confirmed as very hollow stemmed , can only clone with a 90 degree cut through a leaf node or it rots.
Have not cut the mainstem on the others yet but will note their form later on.

First girl untopped is forming a decently spreading bush shape , with plenty of sideshoots moveing out given a little space , and finishing just over a metre.

Fan leaves are massive in proportion to the overall plant , trait i noticed with blockhead along with the hollow , pronounced square section stems like salvia and sharp smell.

First one really starting to shine now , good structure under the fans and a probable high yielder.

Three identical males , nothing to choose between them so useing them all on a few suitable keepers includeing a good Sweetooth#3 and a headrush Venomhead from last year.
