Change fans in 63w unit
Hello
got a 63w unit first gen from a friend, and iam gonna change the fans in the unit to super silent ones, since the unit has only 63 leds on the sink compared to 90 leds? if the heat sink was full it should keep cool well even lak of rpm from the super silent fans i believe? can anyone tell me what brand, rpm, volt and all other info on the fans used in the 63w first gen, so i can find good fans to replace them with? should be interesting to see how silent it can get even do its not that loud to begin with

pull them out and measure with cm i believe. then go to a computer website and find some fans..
I am not sure how there hooked up though.. might need to splice and re-wire them up.. |

Found the 126 w quite loud , modified the case to run one six inch low RPM industrial fan , think they are used to cool flieservers and suchlike , near silent and temps are the same across the heatsinks as before.
With the case off would check for dry solder joints and assembly damage , mine had problems but easily fixed , if you can solder that is. |

can you tell me the name of the fans you used?maybe some pictures? i was thinking about these fans https://www.acousticpc.com/noctua_80mm_fan_nfr8.html i have open the case and found the unit uses fans that runs on 15v and 0.15a, the noctua fan runs on 4-13v and 0.11a, could that difference in volts and amps be a problem? |

to supply your fan with 12V. at .11A. just drop the extra 3 volt through a 27 ohm resistor and you are good to go. A 1/2 Watt resistor will do, but a 1Watt will be mo' betta I'd suggest a 100 ohm variable resistor in series with the 27 ohm. if you wish to find the quietest/effective speed for your fan. A trimmer would do. Once you have what you want, either leave it set or replace with another fixed resistor. Enjoy, Weezard
